Surely, this topic has been discussed on this forum in the past. However, I am new here and have not heard all of the arguments for and against. Please induldge me for a second, before I jump in with my honest opinion.
P.S. What is this warn rating underneath my avatar?

Norm!
The movie is discussed here...

The "warning bar" under your avatar represents the number of "warning points" that you have been given. Five points results in an automatic ban. (Your level is currently at zero.)
How do you get a warning point? Racist, sexist or homophobic language will usually do it.
Seeing that you have returned once more to this "foul commie dungheap", I wonder why.
Masochism?

I would think it's not only the science forum, but every forum except "Opposing Ideologies."
It's because you've been "Restricted" because either you're far too disrespectful, authoritarian, homophobic, or you're a capitalist. Capitalists can't post in other sub-forums because there would be a disruption in the discussion...that's why anti-communists are forced to stay here.

Something as objective, empirical, and universally important and beneficial as science should not be politicized. All non-spammers should have access to that forum as well.

Ever heard of global warming/cooling/whatever-it-is-these-days ? That's pure politics.

Yes exactly! Like Bjørn Lomborg for example, now some people are trying to portray him as an expert on the subject when in fact he is only educated as a statitistician (or what the fuck you call it).

I would have to read what the man has to say before making any judgements about his qualifications.

Yes of course. One of his books is named something like "the true state of the world" (verdens sande tilstand in danish). Basically it's now used by the Bush administration as an excuse for not caring about the environment.

this is fairly hard to follow because i read it from end to start, and i dont care enough to read it again. but just in case anyone thinks any different:
global warming IS going to happen, it is not scientifically debatable. now all thats left is by how much it will change. in the next 25 years the earth will warm by between 4 and 7 degrees(all scientific models have found the rise to be between there), that is inevitable now and cannot be stopped.
if we continue how we have, then in 75 years it will rise 30 degrees, a complete disaster and unimaginable. but it is still preventable, we can still contain the damage to just a handful of degrees. with major effort of course.
in my opinion why this issue is being ignored is not because of capitalism or any other ideology. it is because society always seems to wait until after something bad happens, and then reacts. look at how the ozone problem was treated, governments didnt do shit until the hole in the ozone layer was found. its not going to be until after a large flood, drought, or something similar that government starts properly addressing the issue i think sadly.

...if we continue how we have, then in 75 years it will rise 30 degrees.
That's wacko.
It will probably rise a degree, maybe two, over the next 75-100 years.
And that's a global average...some places will warm more; others may even become cooler.
It ain't "the end of the world".

Meanwhile, Norm, if you want to "talk science", do it here, in this forum. I'll be glad to discuss anything you like along those lines.
Here's a topic I started awhile ago...

Something else I noted: you mentioned that you were taking the LSAT test...that's the one for law school, right?
You may find this post of interest then...

Nope danish, as Bjørn Lomborg. That man his been discussed endlessly in the danish media. Now everybody uses his book as an excuse not to do fuck about the enviroment.

Now the problem is that even that can melt large parts of the polar ice. Plus probably have effects on things we don't even know. (winds, streams etc)
