Thousands of people wave flags, including one of Che Guevara, as they celebrate May Day in Havana, May 1, 2002. Cuban President Fidel Castro delivered a strident defense of his revolution in a May Day speech on Wednesday before hundreds of thousands of people, and attacked Latin America critics for being U.S. lackeys and boot- lickers. "To those who stupidly talk and repeat the imperialist refrain that there is no democracy and no respect for human rights in Cuba, I say no one can question that our country is today the most independent on the planet, the most just and supportive of other peoples, and also by a long stretch the most democratic,"

The picture second from bottom isn't Che Guevara. I have no idea who it is. I know it isn't your fault Celtic, I also saw it labled as Che Guevara on yahoo news.

The second picture gives the impression that Che is simply amongst the crowd of thousands, participating in a march for a common ideal...

I was debating on if I should just post photos of all the may 1st protest, just the stuff with police brutality, just the stuff with commie symbols in it, or just stuff with Che...

Anyway... I was wavering on that one second from the bottom, however I was really looking for a good photograph of Che being used as a symbol in a demonstration accross the globe in a totally diffrent cuture.

I have seen his banner at protest here in New York, and have seen it on CNN at the Quebec City protests, and Genoa G8 protests.

Comrade Che Guevara does live my friends, and his influence in death extends farther than it did in life. He is the spirit of revolution, and the symbol of uprising for many opressed people of the world.

I think he is still a symbol of freedom and the revolution.

I saw kids with Che t-shirts and signs here in DC on May Day and back on April 20. It's great to see that he's still remembered all around the world.

Also, there is a new documentary called A Grin Without a Cat (or somthing like that) that's about the Left in the 60's and 70's. Che is featured in it, and Fidel is in it more than anyone else. The only place that I know it's playing is New York City, but I think it might be available in Europe.
