I shall write a summary of an article I read in the newspaper:

Recently a thief stole a laptop from an electronics shop, as an result to the theft the shopkeeper placed pictures of this man (from the cameras in the shop) in the shop and on the shop's website. "Informing the police is almost useless" he said "They never have time and tell me to come back in a week". The person that gives a tip to the criminal will be rewarded.
According to the law it is a violation of a human's privacy to hang pictures of him and to distribute videotapes of him, "I can be tried for this, but I doubt the thief will try to prosecute me, if he does I trust the law, because after all, he's the criminal".

Do you believe the shopkeeper was right in violating the thief's privacy? I am doubtful, I believe he has the right to get its laptop back, on the other hand I believe you cant just hang pictures of someone in a shop. What do you think?

I think you give most of your rights when you steal, atleast for a period anyway... In a way you violeted the person who you stole from's rights, so what makes you think that your rights are more important?

In the US, it is not illegal to post pictures of someone in a place of private business if they have violated legal business practice.

Its not even illegal to film people in general, as long as you don't distribute the images for profit without a licence or the expressed permission of involved parties.

here in Denver, they have something called "Johns TV) where they air mug shots of men convicted of picking up prostitutes on tv. THe Netherlands, what a country its not legal to film people, but prostitution and drugs are.

Well, if you film somebody who doesn't want it it's a crime. Drugs and going to a hooker is your own choice, being filmed isn't.

If the man has conclusive evidence that the man stole his laptop, he is breaking no law. However, if he merely thinks the man stole his desk top, is 90% sure, but lacks conclusive evidence, the accused could come back and sue him for libel and defamation of character. What if had been a homeowner, would your thinking change Misodoctakleidist? How about a renter, a guy at the bus stop, or a homeless bum? What if it were a crack addict that was robbed of his money? How does a man's socioeconomic status change your thinking about a crime against another person? Should thievery be accepted in a civil society, as long as it's stealinf from some rich guy? With that kind of thinking, how can you even begin to speak out morally about the rich stealing from the poor? You have already justified theft.

I justified theft of capital.

What the shop owner doesn't have a mortgage, kids to feed, and all the other problems facing the proletariate? The small businessman probably suffers more than the American blue collar worker. The odds are stacked against him. However, that is not the point. Where do you find moral justification for your cause, when you advocate theft of any kind?

They'd likely get better ratings showing pictures of the ho's.

I wouldn't call a Korean Immigrant with a south-central LA liquor store that is clearing 30k/ month for his family of 6 as a "Captain of Industry".

who cares if a laptop got stolen from his shop, insurance would cover his loss anyways.

And then everyone's insurance rates go up.

Who cares if a candy bar is stolen? Wal-Mart can easily absorb that, right?

That makes it absolutely OK, right?

It seems that often the leftists' assumed moral high-ground is lost when injustice occurs against what they consider undesirables.

Perhaps not but the "theft" of capital is still perfectly justified since it's existence isn't.

Regardless, you probably think that you're clever now so I'd like to point out that my laptop isn't capital, I bought it for my own consumption.

You use it to educate yourself, I am sure, and as such it becomes a tool of capital investment. This time it is human investment. God knows that if you educate yourself to an acceptable level you will wisen up and start using it purely for profit. You should hand your laptop over to the state and allow them to reallocate your personal property. Only then can you call yourself a true communist. Yeah, that would be the right thing to do. Until then, you are just another hypocrit foaming at the mouth, like a rabid dog waiting to be put out of his misery.

You must undertand, what's his name would rather be living in a mud hut following the smurfberry guide to living. To him, the nonexistence of technology is somehow better than the quality of life afforded us in the 21st century. Let someone steal his laptop, and then see how lost he becomes without it.

I think you have me confused with a conservative.

I would become a hollow shell of a man, a shaddow of my former self, I would capitulate and repent my evil leftist ways.

Listen, enough of this. The laptop was not stolen, it was expropriated for further revolutionary research. The shop owner should be publicly flogged.

Is that why I paid $100 more for my damn laptop?

Damn!!! The rising cost of checking my investment portfolio in real time...

Oh well, it looks like I'll simply have to recruit more Ecuadorian 6 year olds to stitch 1000 extra t-shirts this month. I'll make it up in volume.

And one of those little Ecuadorians (they are little people) will see the injustice of this and rise up against the imperialst dogs. So by stealing electronics we are sparking revolution.
