Reporters detained for taking photographs at US capitol (http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0804/164754.html)
Washington (AP) - D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (website - news - bio) has called it unlawful detainment, but a U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman says officers were right to approach an editor and reporter about their actions near the Capitol. Apparently, at least one of them was shooting photos at the time.
The incident happened after additional security measures were put in place around the Capitol in response to the heightened terror alert.
Sergeant Contricia Sellers-Ford tells The Washington Times that the officers were doing what they were taught to do when they questioned the journalists in separate actions on Friday. However, Norton has said one journalist was detained for about 15 minutes and the other for an hour.
Sellers-Ford tells the Times that photographing anti-terror measures is cause for questioning.
However, Kathryn Sinzinger, the editor and publisher of the Common Denominator newspaper, tells the Times that the officers violated her and her reporter's rights.

What do you think? How far will the US go in increasing authority over the population?
