So the Leauge of Arab States (the Arab world's answer to the western dominated UN) is calling for the UN to give the Sudanese government more time, than 30 days, to disarm Arab militias that are committing atrocities against black minorities in the western province of Dafur.
This is ridiculous, a genocide is under way, and the UN wants it stopped in 30 days? But apparently for the Arab States 30 days to do something is not enough time. I wonder how much time the Arab Leauge thinks would be sufficient? Maybe after all the black people are dead?

ok i would never defend the arab leaugue its extreamly uneffcient but....
fact 1: all sudanese people are black !!!!
and A LOT of arabs !
fact2:the arab league was established under british ''advice'' at a time when
all arab countries were either under british or french occupation , so its
structure isnt exactly build to be effcient .
as much as i dislike the arab league i dont see that its any better than the un with its double standards and all, they were both built to serve the interests of rich wetern countries !!!

Whether or not the arab Leauge is better than the UN is not the point, the point is that waiting and not doing anything is not going to stop the killing.
Apparently you don't know a whole lot, all Sudanese people are not black, the majority (which are the majority) but really are treated as the minority there.
Ethnic groups:
black 52%, Arab 39%, Beja 6%, foreigners 2%, other 1%
As far as fact 2, you are wrong again, two nations in the Arab Leauge (Sudan, Somalia) were Italian colonies.

No, Sudan was a British colony.

See that red bit underneath Egypt?
Anyway, I see no problem with the Arab Leage. The UN mainly stands for the old Western powers and their political bias, so whats wrong with the Arab countries having an organisation that stands up for their political needs?
On the proper subject though, I have to agree that if Sudan was to actually bother to stop the Janjaweed they would probably need more than 30 days if they were to do it by themselves. They may support the militia, but I doubt that they have any control over them.

Anyway, my issue is not with the existence of the arab Leauge, it is with the decision of the Arab Leauge to stake a soft stance on the issue of making the Sudanese government stop the atrocities that are going on in their country. Its their country, the Sudanese government is responsible for stopping the Janjaweed, which they haven't been willing to do.

i do notice how much of the point i am but i cant stop my self....
ummmm...im egyptian so we happen to be right next sudan and they are all black by the way!!!!! ''arab'' bascially refers to muslim or/ and arabic speaking people of the north . im an arab and im black one doesnt cancel the other!
and sudan was defiantly under the brits , and somali was under italian rule by the time if world war 2 , and therefore it was not a member at the time!
anyhow i found the way that you psted that whole thing to be really annoying and i was simply commenting on the fact that you cant really expect the arab league to be effcient and you really cant solve something this big in 30 days , never the less something has to be done

Good for you..

If you bothered to actually read the article, which apparently you didn't, the UN has given the Sudanese government 30 days to take action to stop what's happening, not 30 days to stop it all together, and the Arab Leauge wants to give the Sudanese government much more time, to again not stop the killing, but to take some sort of action against it.
