View Full Version : The beret

Halloween is almost among as and I figured I might as well dress up like Che Guevara.Besides the hair I think I'm pretty much set.The only problem is that I can't find a store that sells berets like the ones Che wore. The closest I could find was the hat Fidel commonly wears at Against All Odds.Does anyone know where I can possibly buy a beret besides from the internet?

Maybe, but it'll look good after a few tries. The first shot won't be the best, but the third or fourth will be better!

I don't suppose it's much help to you, but Che berets are common as muck in Cuba. Perhaps there is someone who can get hold of one for you, someone with Cuban contacts.
Any pals in Miami? :P

whats more confusing is that you are in your 20s.... do you live in america (i think you do - but one can never be certain)?
Its not as big a deal over in England, although the trick or treat culture has sliped over more and more each year. Tis a shame.
I assume che lives still has a shop - if it does, then i'm sure i can remember seeing what you are looking for on there.

I'm a Colombian living in New Jersey so I don't know anybody who lives in Florida except my aunt but she is a busy woman so I don't want to disturb her.
Yes I'm in my 20s but I'm not going trick or treating.Just going to some parties.
I don't want to order over the internet.Does anyone have a clue as to wear I can purchase a beret in NJ or NY?

My sister came back from China with a hat like Marcos wears with a red star on the front. That was kick ass. I seem to have lost in now though. :(

uhm...do you have any "military" shops near where you live, these stores sell like camo clothing and sort of military stuff, they might have one
Or check out second hand clothing stores...these stores are always filled with little surprises :)

I bought mine from a nearby army surplus but the catch is that the beret that Che wore was the civilian beret the french people use. You know, the one with the thing in the top like a painter. The one I bought is the army one without any insignia whatsoever. It looks pretty much like Che's but not the same. The civilian model (the one that looks like an french painter's) is the one that Che liked and wore. Get that one! :D

I own a beret, I purchased it in an army apparel store in Ireland, it is one of my dearest possessions, I wear it all the time.

This has all sorts of neat berets (and the beret cousin, Tams). Including the one that resembles Che's :che:

Why do even need a beret? Did Marx wear a beret? Che certainly didn't wear those weird-looking berets that Malte sells in the Che-lives store to steal your money.

You can buy those in specific stores for old people. I have never seen a store like that without berets. That’s' where I bought mine! :che:

I wear it to publicly display my communist ideals. Marx didn't wear a beret because evryone knew him anyway.
I love my beret, and my army shirt with the hammer and sickle patch (bought from ebay) on the right arm. And if you trade money for something (i.e. a beret) I don't think It's classed as stealing. Extortionate pricing is a common factor in the capitalist market but I wouldn't really call it stealing.

I also have developed the habit of using my beret wherever I go. It's something that cries out my political thinking. I love my beret as you ,my comrades, do so. It's good to know that comrades out there do the same thing! :)

Dammit. Reading this entire thread gave me the urge to buy a beret. I'm just proud of my militant jacket with the red strips on shoulders.
I am going to ask my girlfriend to modify some things for me so that I may display the hammer and sickle in public.

I actually aquired my beret from being in the Canadian Army. It's the army that turned me from being centrist to socialist. It hard to imagine how disgustingly socially right wing a national defense army is untill you experience it.
Theres nothing wrong with the beret's on the site, its just that the manufacturers have no idea how to where a beret. They must not know that to properly wear it, you need to crease and fold the right side down. The people on here with berets can hopefully vouche for this too, you an make yours look like the ones on the site by unfolding it, it will look like bakers hats.
Just buy one from the site, and fold it, or get one from a army surpluss store where they have folded it for you, then just find a regular pin or beret clipping pin.

hahaha hmm on second thought i think ill keep it as a souvenir. to be honest though, its made in cuba...its really poor quality, the fabric is seriously budget and its got this plastic goldish star on it. its pretty sweet still just to have one but if you wanna wear one your better off buying one in the usa. just buy any beret im sure you can find them all over and if not....ebay!
btw, im not stupid, if you make a ridiculously good offer ill take it

Beret's are a lot better than the hat that Fidel wears. If you like Fidel's hat more than Che's, why don't you change your Avatar to Fidel?!?!?
