Sorry for such a generalized topic which doesn't really pertain to the topic of this particular forum; but for the life of me I couldn't figure out where a more appropriate place to post this topic would be. I apologize in advance.

My question is there any Greek Leftists on this site? Not simply meaning ethnically Greek, but actually living in Greece or participating within the Greek political movement?

Thank you
Manos.

Yes, Though, I would the Greek government had also backstabbed the PPK in turning over one of it's members which was seeking asylum in Greece. I would guess this move was really a behind the scenes episode orchestrated between Turkey and it's good friend the US for the US to apply pressure to Greece in giving up the PPK member. Unfortunately also, this was done by the PASOK administration, which tries to claim to be a socialist party, but is your standard liberal bouragrasie that got rich while the idealistic and naive supported them -- very sad.

Many Turks will point and say the average Greeks support of the PPK is simply due to a hatred of Turks themselves. On some small level this is true. But I've encountered many Kurds living in Athens and I genuinely feel for their struggle.

Geia sou Manos,

I do not live in Greece or take part in any regular political activities there, and in fact I am from the other side of the sea which should actually be uniting and not parting us, but I was in the KKE gathering in Polytexneio on the 17th of November last year, in 2004. My reason for being in Greece at that time was only to visit my friends, however, choosing a very interesting time to visit Athens, I was invited to the KKE meeting by my friend, and spent almost half a day there. It was quite an experience, I must say.

I am looking forward to visit Athens and be a part of such gatherings in the future. KKE has a number of connections over here as well. It's good to see that you've started this thread. Geia sou!

Supposedly, there's a huge (relatively speaking) anarchist movement in Greece.

I've heard that Greece had one of the strongest communist movements in Europe around mid-century, excluding the communist states, of course. I also know for a fact that the Greek Communist Party (KKE) is in charge of many municipalities within the country. But still, my knowledge about KKE is quite limited at the moment, and different groups say different things about KKE - both good and bad.
