View Full Version : New blow for evil one-side minded jerks

For all interested to know, I hope these words will make you as happy as I am...

Wal-Mart, the single-minded and most dangerous company in North America, has finally bent over to pressures to allow a syndicate to implement itself here in Quebec, Canada.... my not too great, yet not so bad province...

I hope this new and historic decision will spark new pressures to ensure such actions in other Wal-Marts around North America.

And hopefully this will not end up like the desastrous result of the first syndicisation of a Wal-Mart in Windsor, Ontario in 1994, where their employees were forced to end their unionized work force.

What are your thoughts on this???

A company that blatantly ignores its workers, by not allowing them syndical powers, is one that works against social progress and equal liberty.

It exploits employees abroad, something most people don't know, or simply don't care for because they save a few bucks... That's another fucking danger, ignorance is a killer.

And most importantly, it destroys community identities by forcing local businesses to die and close down...

It's sad to see you all not so much concerned about these destructive behaviors and not so happy about a significant win for the workers of the world...

They'll close the store in Saguenay just to make a point.

This can't, that won't and this can't happen....

It's unacceptable if it does happen... But it won't happen.

Can you only imagine the world of shit they'll be from all the unions of workers in Canada will do if such a calamity happens ?????

Workers of the world, Unite !

Good News/Bad News - they can and are.

And the Canadian workers, at large, don't even seem to be clued in. *Sigh*

On the up side, the infection has spread - the workers of Walmart in Saint-Hyacinthe have been certified.

To spout a cliche - "Increase The Pressure".

Isn't Wal-Mart the largest corporation in the world? It's always certainly been an embodiment of capitalism at its worst for me.

I can say a new species of pigs are killing farmers and eating their flesh but without any evidence or cited stories it means nothing. How does it exploit employees abroad? Telling someone something, such as walmart exploits people will do nothing. Starting off by telling the person a story in reguards to their exploitive practices will have the person listening and then forming their own opinion; being walmart exploits people. I am not familure with the specifics reguarding walmart's labor practices however many companies have you sign legal contracts saying you will abide by said companies policies once you are employed by them. One of these papers states numerous policies disallowing unions. You sign the paper, you are saying you abide by those policies. If you don't like it, dont' work for the company.

Wal-Mart exploits its employees by paying them extremely small sums of money in order to slash the prices of their products. This is how they have been so successful, as sick as it is. Although there's nothing wrong with wishing to see sources, I'm not sure if that is completely necessary. You should be able to get a feel for this exploitation by simply stepping into the store. It's just common knowledge to me.

If you don't like it, dont' work for the company.

Unfortunately, that's not always a viable option. Lack of education among much of the working class could prevent them from completely understanding such a bullshit contract. Also, it might be the only job available to many people.

So then they still willingly join the company, and willingly leave it when they become fed up with the companies policies. If walmart had no workers, they will have no company. I'm more concerend with their taking over smaller busienesses (spelling :o )

By coincidence, Wal-Mart made the headlines again this morning...

Not really surprising at all. What is surprising is that it was actually reported.

I hate wal-mart it is the ultimate in why capitalism is terrible.

It's tough to stay away from though...for many poor people who cannot afford Mall-style prices, Wal-Mart is almost the only place you can buy common household goods and cheap clothing.

I own only one pair of shoes -- $15 from Wal-Mart. I own three pairs of pants -- and one of those was another $15 bargain (the other two came from a thrift shop). My coffee-maker (percolator) was $40 at Wal-Mart ($80 at a department store like Macy's). Even my slippers and bathrobe came from Wal-Mart.

I haven't been there in more than a year...but sooner or later, the bastards are going to suck me in again. :(

Yes Redstar, I agree with what you are saying, and it somewhat goes along with my prior post.

The major store here in Athens, Ohio (The college town I live in), is a shitty ass Wal-Mart. And of course they get the business of all the cash-strapped college students.

Simply make due with what you have. It is a decision to shop at certain places however when you live in the middle of a capitalist culture it is very hard to not participate in it.
