Sorry it had to come to this, but i really need to know about imperialism. Che dedicated his life to end it, but i need a better understanding on it. This is my take on imperialism: Countries under imperialism are usual countries whos economy is based on agriculture. They rely on welthier countries to buy their product. A good example would be Cuba. Cuba is or was one of the greatest sugar producers in the world and the U.S. bought most of it. When Cuba wanted to sell some sugar to the USSR, they had to get the U.S.'s approval, but of course this happened before Fidel came to power. With economic control comes political control, and political control affects the people of the country.
I dont know how political control works or know of any recent events on imperialism affecting politics. I have heard of that puerto rico is under imperialism right now...could someone please explain how it came under the influence and how it is affecting the people not only in puerto rico, but in the world. Gracias.

ok, Puerto Rico is not a good example of imperialism cause it never had its own independence, lets talk bout countries who have had their independence but are affected by imperialism

Well when I think of imperialism I see that the stronger nations exploit the weaker ones for it's goods.Although life may be better living under these conditions, the people usually have no say and cannot make improvements on life if they were under control. It just depends what countries are involved.

According to Negri, Hardt and other postautonomists imperialism has ended,
the capitalist society have now taking form of "the empire".
Hrmmm...iam sceptic to these postautonomists (though i love their "predecessors", the italian operaists, maybe one of the most important marxists in our time), and I doubt I agree with them on much, but they have a couple of intresting theories that would be good to check in closer, I will...someday.

Marx said the revolution would be fought against capitalism by the workers....Che fought against imperialism, people say imperialism has ended...whats next? Fight to bring on communism...though i think that there has to be another way of bringing communism besides socialism...just cause marx said doesnt mean it has to be, although i agree with some of his ideas.

Agreed, so what do you think should be done then? And why not socialism?

Big fan of democratic socialism as espoused and acted upon by theZapatista, really puts the power back into local counsels where it belongs.
We have to act because the future of this planet and the human race is at stake.
We've got to get off oil
The powers that be are slowly phasing out free and equal education.
Putting more and more people behind bars and trying change learning to only for the workforces sake.
We have a long way to go, but when they tried to privatize water in Bolivia and the people took to the streets they stopped it.
It's remarkable to me that the people are recognizing with little education the way the deck is stacked and taking the power back
