I've also heard about these pictures, and that it was later found that they came from a pornography site.

It's a phenomenon called internet war rape pornography. (http://www.atsnn.com/story/47468.html)

I would not be too quick to discount Cuba's ability to acquire this kind of information. Cuba's intelligence agency is among the best in the world.

If these images are fakes they are quite elaborate considering it's the same lighting as the other pics, the women have Arab features as opposed to hispanic, the men are in G.I. costumes.

There is nothing in the imagery that would suggest that these are fake. The women seem geniunely freaked out or being raped, unless they are very good actresses. Most pornography shows women enjoying the situation, even fucked up misogynistic crap where the women are harmed, "Pussys Fucked Inside Out" etc. The few that aren't mostly come from Asia or more of the B & D community.

This is not that material, having worked in the industry and video production, the first give away that these are actually real or hella good copies is the lighting being the same as the other pictures, the background atmosphere being the same, little things, with lassoing and cutting and pasting, the lighting is usually off. These would have to be done by pros that with the expressions of the women and their ethnicity being regional to the area makes these images being fake difficult to prove. But I am not a photo expert, but this one has even photo experts baffled.

I believe the CIA is running a counter story to try to do damage control in the area that these images are not real, but considering the photos are with the others in context, it makes little sense that they would only sexually torture the males and not the females.

Come on anyone remember the Balkan War?

Secondly I think the US senators have seen these images in the photographs that were unreleased. The fact that these photos are out there and we know even as US citizens that congress has seen them and we haven't points to the idea that many of the unreleased photos depicted the torture of women. They will not release these photos to the general public because a.) US international relations. b.) It will push more people in the election against Bush. c.) The worry of attacks on US women overseas in reprisals.

The only one of these issues with any merit is the last. But as a woman living in the world I wish more disclosure on issues of rape in occupied territories as a way of dispelling shame and encouraging justice against war crimes. The truth should be taught.

The fact that so many males instantly gravitated towards what I feel to be the CIA counter claim knowing there are 300 unseen photos out there given to senators and not the public that these could easily be points to denial issues, perhaps based in some sort of chivalary but that do nothing but continue the cycle of shame for the survivors of war abuse which went on in Kosovo and countless other places such as the rape of Mayan women in Chiapas by the paramilitary. They were even selling images of corpses to mags there until they got busted.

Bottom line, I don't believe these women are acting, I believe they were being raped regardless of the situation, my clue to this is that in some pictures they force the women to take postures that would suggest pornography that they would be "into the situation," when they are obviously not and clearly have no choice over their body movements, there is some disjointed body holdings which would also show a person forced into a position instead of taking a position as well ie.) when they force the woman's head back and make her open her mouth, but the expression on the face and in the eyes is one of anger and fear that can't be faked. Sorry nice try.

Cheers Pandora.

Seymour Hersh the journalist who uncovered the truth of the My Lai atrocities in Vietnam says the U.S. government is covering up evidence of more torture at Abu Ghraib.

"Debating about it, ummm ... Some of the worst things that happened you don't know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib ... The women were passing messages out saying 'Please come and kill me, because of what's happened' and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It's going to come out."

"It's impossible to say to yourself how did we get there? Who are we? Who are these people that sent us there? When I did My Lai I was very troubled like anybody in his right mind would be about what happened. I ended up in something I wrote saying in the end I said that the people who did the killing were as much victims as the people they killed because of the scars they had, I can tell you some of the personal stories by some of the people who were in these units witnessed this. I can also tell you written complaints were made to the highest officers and so we're dealing with a enormous massive amount of criminal wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there and higher, and we have to get to it and we will. We will. You know there's enough out there, they can't (Applause). .... So it's going to be an interesting election year."

One must remember that rape has been a part of war since time immemorial... What does change is the authority's attitude to such activity and the motivation behind it; sometimes it was actively encouraged, other times it was punished with a hanging, and it was done either to vent frustration after a particularly horrific siege, or to put fear into the hearts of the populace.
Of course the fact that it's been going on for centuries doesn't make it any less wrong, and we have every right to condemn and punish such actions.

There is absolutely no doubt that atrocities are being committed in Iraq, we need not any photographs to prove that. What matters is the authority's attitude and what they do when they catch someone.
I suspect the US high command is guilty of astonishing short-sightedness or are turning a blind eye to such matters.
What the US military needs to do if it wants to stop such embarressments is to publicly execute a guilty soldier, or even merely threaten execution (Setting up a gallows or similar in a public place for example)
I suppose a hanging or a shooting is a much better death than bleeding to death in terrible pain because a prisoner bit their cock off.

Rape is the most evil of injustice in all. period.

These pictures can hardly be porn-made stuff, given its genuinity of the custumes, expressions and other specks depicted.

There are no soldiers in Iraq wearing green camouflage. It's the desert, stupid, they're wearing brown.
