I've written extensively here about Bhagat Singh...he was a true revolutionary if there ever was one.
Too bad he was murdered at such a young age of 23. Who knows what he would've done had he lived to be much older.

I'm not so sure that would have been to India's benefit.
Communism essentially means equality...India has one of the oldest social structures still existent in certain areas - the CASTE system. Many would not like the thought of equality, rather would like a hierarchial structure.
Would communism have existed in india? Who knows...I don't think it will anytime soon, nor do I think many would have willingly sacrificed theirselves for it.
I'm no communist myself, I do not promote that notion either. I think both capitalism and communism are horrible ways of governing a society.

Nice to see some people know Bhagat Singh. :)
Unfortunately many people on this site see the petty bourgios counterrevolutionary prick Ghandi as a leftist. :(

A uneducated people fighting every day just to get something to eat don't think much about that. I don't think you should see it as people accept the caste system, they just don't think they can change it, that's a big difference.
Take a look here: Bhagat Singh commemorative rally (http://www.marxist.com/Asia/congress04_photos.html)
The first pictures is from the largest marxist congress ever held in Pakistan, but in the bottom there's some pictures of a rally they held afterwards in his honour. His ideas are still alive and well, at least in Pakistan :)
