The problem is greater than I had at once thought, my friend came back from the French exchange trip and told me about "skins" beating up this Arabian guy, this was near an area where there had been the largest support for Le Pen though.

You know, I would have never thought that a liberal and loving land like France could ever become strickened by the disease of racism and bigotry. It's hideously sad..

What exactly is up with Le Pen?

I dont know much about him but ill list a few things. He is the leader of a far right party called the "National front". He is a xenophobe and racist. He came second in the first round of the Presidential elections and is one of the two choices the French have in the final round. I f he was in power he would bring back the Franc, do away with the European unions work anywhere in the EU thing, in his country and he would not let immigrants in. He called the Holocaust a "detail in history". And thats all the things he admits to, politicians have a habit about leaving out the most shocking things, that makes me scared.

Easy does it, guys.

Racism can explode in some areas, but that doesn't mean that it's everywhere. Okay, so there might be some cases of Arabs being beaten up in France - but should that mean that the whole of France hates Arabs? No, absolutely not.

Here in Aust., we have a suburb just out of Sydney called Cabramatta. It's labelled as the "most multicultural suburb" of Australia, where statistics claim that more than 75% of it's residents initially came from other countries. The largest racial group in Cabramatta are from S.E. Asia - I think Vietnam, but aren't sure about that. The youth of that group get into a lot of racial fights with the youth of other ethnic groups, and it's an issue that most of Aust. is well aware of.

It doesn't, however, mean that we are all racist against the Vietnamese, or any other Asians for that matter.

I have always felt that because my nation is so close to Asia, that it is like standing in my backyard looking over the fence into my neighbour's backyard. Vietnam is part of my neighbour's house, and so long as we retain a sense of respect and kindness towards each other, and our own people, then little is going to explode between us, nor should it be expected to.

Again, if there is racism in France, then it is an issue that must be dealt with by the French people - and if not by the people in the communities in which the racism is happening in, then by the people in the neighbouring communities who wish to see peace in the lives of their neighbours.

Please don't expand the issue beyond what it needs to be. France is still an honourable country, and should be treated that way while it's racism remains minor and uninvasive upon other nations' lives.

The same can be said about modern-day Germany, and a large number of other nations.

i agree with angie.only because there are some active neonazis in eastern germany doesn't mean that germany is racistic.

Le pen just makes use of the integration prob, but so is Fortuyn in Holland. Its foolish but people fall for it.

We should watch for the rising fascism in Europ.......
