I have heard of a "New" Black Panther Party, and I have a question. Are they anything at all like the organisation that fought for black rights during the '60s and '70s? Or are they just a bizarre offshoot?

I hope they don't endorse Kerry like the Communist Party.

<edit> It seems there is no new Black Panther party. (http://www.blackpanther.org/newsalert.htm)

I've seen people claiming to be new black panthers, but hey don't seem to be any kind of meaningful party, I'm not even sure if they formed a party. I see them on public television in New York City from time to time, they always seem to be a bit racist and overly religious. They aren't the same Panthers from the civil rights movement, they wouldn't be refrencing to christianity as much as these new panthers do.

they have - i believe - been condemned by the former original black panthers for their anti-semitism and there general attitude of hatred towards whites as a whole
