View Full Version : Osama bin Laden not a terrorist?

This isn't a thread about "one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter."

I'm actually asking whether Osama bin Laden even had any actual ties with 9/11.

I thought it interesting when I read that many Muslims were "shocked" when they heard from the Western press that Osama bin Laden was the perpetrator behind 9/11, as some previously categorized him as a "spiritual" and "nationalistic leader" instead of a "terrorist."

I also heard that it was possible that the Osama bin Laden video and audio tapes were tampered with.

Just wondering, in case anyone has any more information.

The one about the tapes being tampered with doesn't seem to have alot to back it up. I think it's clear that even if he didn't organize the 9-11 attacks that the man is a terrorist.

People have this big misunderstanding of how the Al-Queda organization opperates. Bin Laden simply gives his wealth to terrorist cells and they in turn conduct opperations with the money he gives them. For all we know, he did was not behind the planning of the 9/11 attacks but simply funded it. And the reason they were "shocked" is because some looked up to him for his role in battling the Soviet invasion of Afganistan.

Bin Laden is a terrorist and so is Bush, at the heart of this is both men's overbearing religious beliefs.

According to the 9-11 report, he financed 9-11.

Even if Osama had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks he is still a fundie muslim fuckwit whose eyes I would love to put out with red hot pokers.

Oh god, another this "don't attack the poor muslim" things. The hypocracy of it is hilarious. People here get all hypersensitive when you say the word Muslim is whatever, but godforbid they do the same when they attack Christans.

LOL. Anyway, its not dont attack the muslims, its have a very good reason to attack the muslims before you do. This does not belong in the Opposing Ideologies board. I'll start a thread in Religion.

Both bin Laden and Bush are reactionary, pro-capitalists. There's no difference between them at all.

Actually, I would go a bit further, most of the time all Osama bin Laden probably does is simply motivate people with the things he says. If you read reports on this by Robert Fisk, who has interviewed him three times, Fisk claims when he met Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan he seemed very isolated, and didn't know much about what was happening in the news. Also he claims that bin Laden doesn't know mcuh about the United States either, Fisk claims bin Laden tells him that he can only vaguely remember going to the United States with his father as a young boy, and aside from that, that's practically all he knows about the country. Robert Fisk seems to think that Osama bin Laden's power comes in the things he says more than anything else.

In the 9/11 pack leader's hotel room they found a lengthy letter from Bin Laden giving a spiritual final word to his minions, as well as specific operational instructions

His involvement was beyond financing.

He often times merely funds, but he has a direct hand in the biggest Al-Queda terrorist ops.
