We, humans, kill and eat around 6 billion chickens every year. If the same number of killings would be performed on humans, there would be no humans left on this earth.

How are animals going to be treated under an anarchist society? Will they be killed? If so, doesn't this go against the principles of anarchism?

How are animals going to be treated under an anarchist society?

Depends how the masses feel about animals.

Will they be killed?

Probably. Unless theres some kind of way to get meat without killing animals or everyone on earth becomes a vegetarian.

So we are just going to accept that children will be brutally murdered, while humans are supposed to be treated like Gods?

That's hypocritical.
We feel sorry for the poor workers, but the animals are still going to be put behind bars, and later killed.

3. What I meant was that anarchists are opposed to authority. Killing is use of authority.

Yeah, and then let's start prosecuting lions for eating gazelle, bears for eating fish, and wolves for eating sheep!

Anarchism is not primitivism.

It is definitely not against the principles of Anarchism to kill animals. It will be done in a sustainable and humane way however, and will become needed less and less as technology develops.

I'm sorry to announce that animals will be killed in an Anarchist society.

In case you didnt notice, we need to eat other beings to survive. Society, however, makes up its own rules to an extent, so maybe if people doesn't like the idea of killing chickens, the "death tolls" could be reduced.

Really? I'm sure you can survive with milk, eggs, and a whole range of vegetarian food, without slaughtering animals.

I thought Anarchy ment no authority.

I eat animals too, I just think of putting things in perspective. You know some animals, like monkeys are really inteligent. Are you going to kll them, or would it just be the 'less inteligent'?

No authority over humans, you know, sentients.

We can still do whatever we want to animals.

Is that fair? There are a lot of inteligent animals. Dogs, monkeys, dolphins, etc. I don't think it should be allowed to kill them.

It seems to me that there are varying degrees of "defensibility" with regard to human treatment of animals.

Like everything else, the different "uses" of animals will be challenged in the course of building a post-capitalist society.

We have no way of knowing the outcome of those challenges. Some practices may be completely abolished, some may be modified in a more humane direction, and still others may persist largely unchanged.

I do not think, though, that the killing of animals for meat is likely to diminish until we learn how to grow meat "in a vat"...something possible in theory but some distance away in the light of practical technology.

A "meat-rich" diet seems to be preferred by the vast majority of humans that can afford it...and I don't think "ethical" appeals will have much effect on that preference.

Meat tastes good.

dogs and cats have throughout history been used to keep rodents in check, and help us humans with hunting and sheparding livestock, which will still be raised to be slaughtered to yes, feed the masses. I want to produce organically fed livestock, and organic agriculture, with the help of animal labour. ie. people and trained mammels to effeciantly produce food, and exist with the earth cooperatley.

peace yall

I am happy to inform you that there is no need at all to kill of use animals in order to have a good healthy and satisfying life.
So now you can stop killing, murdering and abusing animals. Really! :P

No serious, i see no need for killing animals, or even using them. There's a lot of stuff on the internet to explain all this, so if not asked, i wont bother to try to convince you. Ofcourse, if you want i will try.......

Anyway, i feel anarchism has no need for killing animals. I think they should be protected by anarchism and communism. The things people do to animals are disgusting, i dont see how anarchism can agree on all this stuff.

 Free the animals!

Well, if someone gets me a some not-meat with the same nutrients, i wouldn´t mind.
Btw, a curious fact. By being a Vegan or vegetarian, u actually contribute to the killing of more animals than by being non-vegetarian.
