The creator of the Smurfs was actually French and was a communist, the Smurfs were created as a way to prove how exploitive the capitalist system was. If you go back and watch the show now, its really quite fun, because the show does send a leftist message, which if anything was good for kids to hear.

Yea but it wasn't exactly propaganda used to brainwash kids during the cold war like this guy thinks... And the smurfs he compares to satalin/lenin/marx/etc look nothing like eachother.

lol! what a sad life the creator must of had.

he goes through all the trouble using all these creative metaphors and wotnot, and no one who was watching the programme when it was on didnt even know what communism was, let a loan a metaphor!

but why was gargamel always trying to eat the smurfs and hunting them down? if he was a real capitalist he would of enslaved the smurfs and made them work and he takes all the money lol
