sorry this is on such short notice. i would be there but i have to work (bollocks!).
"Die-In" at the White House, Thursday, July 22nd. People are meeting up at 12 noon at lafayette park, washington DC. in case you don't know about the situation in sudan, a huge genocidal movement is going on at the behest of the sudanese government who hires arab "janjaweed" militias. they've driven all the black people from darfur's villages, homes, and farms to death camps in the desert. 1,000 people die each day. anyone who tries to escape is raped and/or killed. suddenly those in high places want people with lighter skin. men are killed and women are raped by light-skinned men to acheive the desired lighter skin. now bush is unwilling to spend a couple million and much less risk to american troops to pursue a genuinely humanitarian cause.
"We're helping organise a "Die-In" at the White House on Thursday, July 22nd. One thousand people will lie down, as if dead, in front of the President's Mansion powerfully reminding the US Government of the number of people who are dying in Darfur each day.
We'll make sure the protest gets serious media attention. We'll demand that the US act to put an end to the genocide in Darfur and save those innocent lives.
