Gay marriage amendment falls short (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=1&u=/ap/20040714/ap_on_go_co/gay_marriage_29)

I knew this was coming. The amendment was shot down by a 60-56 vote today. While it serves as a victory for Gay rights, the fight for equality for gays is far from over.

The amendment provided that marriage within the United States "shall consist only of a man and a woman."

What does it say right now?

There's absokutely nothing in the constitution on marriage, which is the whole thing, marriage has not been legally defined by the government, leaving the door open for what we saw happen in Mass.

And yet the Fucking idiot says he is still gonna persue it, Goodbye Mr Bush! Junior or otherwise!

A hopeless cause. I also enjoyed hearing Ted Kennedy, a raging liberal call the Republicans "rabid reactionaries."

The thing that I find most entertaining about this issue is that many conservatives deny that they see anything wrong with homosexuality in general, yet they still maintain that gays should not be allowed to get married.

I know, that is all too amusing, something else I found amusing was when Orrin Hatch, Sen. from Kansas was addressing the Senate floor when this amendment was being debated. He presented a report that supposedly came from credible experts in the field of Sociology from Scandanavia, this report supposedly found a link between the rise in homosexual couples and children being orphaned.

That's obscene.

That's not even for real man! How much did they pay them to publish that? It like doesn't even make sense!

I dunno where he got this report, or if it was even real, the notion that homosexuals are to blame for orphaned children is absolutely laughable.

Sorry to nitpick, but I believe it was 50 to 48(with 66 or so needed to pass).
