I think that it is cool to embrace all aspects of American culture, including the significant amount of art and culture contributed by African Americans.

Did anyone see Obama&#39;s comments on the black community on the DNC. I think he makes a great point attacking people who say blacks with a book are acting white.

I don&#39;t know how this got into a shit fight over blackness, but I disagree that only people from (Sub-Saharan) Africa can be black. I point to the Melanesian people and the Australian Aboriginals. Both these peoples are "black" in the sense of dark skin. They do not have much more in common genetically with Africans do Chinese (I think). And of course the culture (previous to white settlement in Australia at least) is different as well.

I really liked his "this is not (insert label here, such as "Black") America", but it is simply the United States of America.

He did it woith several labels, always repeating that it was, simply, the United States of America.

I really think that spoke volumes.
