I never really found out how exactly RATM broke up. The impression i got was that everyone but Zach de la Rocha wanted to not be so political anymore. Anyone have info about the breakup please tell me.

Tom Morrello had nothing to do with it. Zack's rapping now, and DJ Shadow does his beats. From what I remember seeing on the site, he's still political. (* posted the website, it's on another one of the threads.

What???? Tom is one of the best guitar players ever (at least in my opinion, and many other people's)!!!!

Guitar playing wise and as a person, he is not an asshole. I think Tom is a very smart man, a Marxist and all out leftist but maybe not as radical as Zack is and how Zack would want the band to be. Maybe, that's the reason why the band broke up. But I guess, no one can really know why ever did they disband. If someone knows the exact reason why, an answer would be appreciated.

From what I know is that RATM had a record deal where they had full lieberty of their first four albums. I guess Zach didnt like this so he went off to pursue his own career.

Both Zach and Morello are very political and I doubt it was their views that split them up.

Morello is a great guitarist, but recently he has been lacking soul. It used to be that his riffs were full of such rage that could make anyone want to smash stuff up. Currently he is counting more on his effects than his fingering.

Still a great guitarist though, just not what he used to be.
