How did all of you get interested in the leftist radical movement, etc. For me, I always had a flirtation with it, but my AP US history teacher really did it for me.

At first I had an interest in Soviet music, then I began reading some of their history (further more, I came from a so called "communist" country, so it was easier for me to tolerate some of their values) and that started a whole chain of events that eventually led me to this place.
I also greatly sympathize with poor people, that had it's effect too.

I listened to Rage Against The Machine, I liked where they were coming from, and then began a process of self teachings on all the greats and not so greats in Left and Right wing politics!!

i got into politics from music too - soulfly and sepultura - then other stuff later.
maybe subconciously i always had a little bit of a intrest - i always loved robin hood. nows its zapata and che in his place.
when the anti-GE and WAR marches started here i went along and met some of the socialists, eventually i joined socialist worker and started going to meetings. there is GPJA here a group that helps organise marches and videos on revolutions and all sorts of intresting stuff. it was a kinda slow process - now i look in my room and see leflets and books everywhere about revolution and think gee - when exactly did this start?

From the time I went to Guatemala and learned about who Che was and the plight of the working class and indigeneous peoples of Central America and also being a poly sci major sparked a lot us interest in leftist politics.

I got into communism because the American government hated it so much.
I thought, "If the Yanks hate it then it must be good"

For me it was a combination of circumstances. I've always had a
somewhat positiveview of Communism - but i spent time and i still
continue to spend time researching about Leftist politics and i
determined that capitalism is not benifiting me at all.
It's the tool of Exploitation and it's basically inhumane and it is something i can
not physically and mentally support anymore. I Feel that i could be myself when
it comes to revolutionary politics. I want a society where there is real freedom.
So now i am here - fighting the reactionary ideasof Capitalism and the State.

Well let's see.
I'm a plumber by trade, and had worked for years in a non union shop. I hated the way we were treated... low pay, and no benifits... I joined the Plumber's union, and didn't last long there because I didn't like the way it was run. Which made me quite sad because I had always believed in unions and couldn't understand why it was so fucked up.
I figured there had to be a better way than the way things are done today, I started reading about Socialism.. and was even part of the Socialist Party.. till I found out about the Industrial Workers of the World, and now truly believe in Industrial Unionism as the only logical method of ending capitalism.
