NZ doesn't really have a corruption investigation team, so no corruption investigated = no corruption.
Sarcasm intended. I think a lot of countries work this way, makes everyone think things are fine and dandy.

how silly is this. Yeah ireland have the i.r.a. but lets not get carried away. Countires like poland and latvia have even bigger problems like the mafia, which have allot of power.
The former Yugoslavia has been in civil dispute for many years about the leadership. This has caused many riots and deaths, more than ireland

not only is ireland the most corrput EU state, but it is also a major player in the arms trade- many computer and radar systems are developed and made by US companies in Ireland- some1 said that the gunships in Isreal and the aircraft used in Afhganistan had most of thier important compenents made in Ireland.....
the first concentration camp was established by an irish man- i think it was in north america to expoilt native indians....
ireland used to have a major criminal gang problem- up until that reporter was killed- then the garda came crashing down on the gangs. there is no such luck here in the north- drugs are increasing, as is crime. There this morning my neighbour was robbed, and a few days ago a catholic taxi driver was shot by republicans due to the fact he had an arguement with a local IRA leader...

there still is a major gang problem in Ireland, there are loads of gangs into organised crime, well you cant exactly say those drug lords in dublin have disapeared,
& im my local area there are still large gangs, like that guy michael crinian who was gunned down in a barracks street pub, because he never paid the flynn's for a shipment of heroine.
Veronica guerians death had no affect on organised crime they are just better at covering it up now.

Ireland. . . where can one begin?

Yes there is a lot of corruption in Ireland. Ray Burke, Michael Lowry, Charlie Haughey, Abbeylara, etc. I wouldn't necessarily think we are extraordinary in this regard, for fuck sake look at British collusion in the North, In France they hand out Brown envelopes like fliers, the Communists and Socialists and the whole lot are at it apparently.

I've been told that Ireland is the second richest country in the world per head, after the US. It also has the second biggest gap between the rich and poor, after the US.

James Connolly argued that Ireland was always succeptible to socialism because of its history. But then again Ireland was one of the biggest supporters of the fascists in the Spanish Civil War. Go figure.

Yeah, I think that's true, Ciaran (what Connolly said). We were oppressed for 800 years, I think it got into our blood.

Where'd you hear that? I'm not surprised. We are corrupt bastards though, all of us, except Bertie, I have faith in Bertie.

Hey, be suspicious about that.
I believe that Irland comes in first place, but maybe only because Germany is paying someone not to be at first place.

Ireland? No! The richest country in Europe is Luxemburg, the second Richest is Switzerland.
Ireland has by far the highest ecopnomic growth rate(i bet thats the false name for that)
60% of all european PC's are from Ireland...I wouldn't be surprised if tehy also build the computers for missiles etc. in Ireland too.

Yeah Ireland is something like 4th or 5th I think. As for The Socialist thing, it's true Ireland due to its history is more prone to a social conscience than others, this does not necessarily mean socialist but what it does mean is that we have or at least used to have a caring conservatism type of idea. Ie, if you look at most of the orgainisations for the homeless and for foreign aid, they are run by religious.
