A true friend of the Chinese people, William Hinton passed away on May 15, 2004. I remember reading in college his now classic work - "Fanshen: A Documentary of Revolution in a Chinese Village". That book, along with Edgar Snow's "Red Star Over China" really opened my eyes to the real nature of the Chinese Revolution.
