i just finished reading, probly 1 of the most complex books ever written,(srry i cant give any summery of the plot) i think it has allegories to many things within it, especially that of the spice(which is the equivelent of oil) and how continous abuse of local people, will eventually lead to a revolution in which the people took back the wealth of the universe. i think frank herbert was trying to give us awarning that if developed western countries continue to abuse the people of the middle east(ex. supporting Brutal totalitarian regimes in suadi arabia, Isreal,Kuwait, etc, and polarizing the wealth that comes in from the oil) theyll eventually take back whats rightfully theirs.

Damn good book. I've only read the first two : Dune, and Dune Messiah, but they were both good. Shame about the film. I expected something wicked from David Lynch, he is afterall a genius. I guess its impossible to put something like that on the screen.

The Dune Chronicles are probably the best sci-fi or fantasy "series" ever created. I've read the first three books: Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune:but I have the rest of the original Frank Herbert books and haven't got to read them yet. Brian Herbert, his son, has written more Dune books that tell of the history of the Houses a good while before the events of the original book. The series continues and simply gets more interesting as you get through each of the books.

the whole series, ive also read all his sons books too, but they're more for profit, and they'res no real allegory in them either
