This movie's interperetation of Lenin makes me want to vomit!

Example:
Trotsky: I'll never understand you. You hate anyone who's not your kind of Bolshevik more than you hate the Tsar.
Martov: No wonder they call you Robespierre. Everyone's got to think like you, or they're out!
Trotsky: He thinks freedom is something you write on a wall, you don't actually practice it.
Vladimir Lenin: That's not true. Of course, I agree you're free to say what you like. And you must agree I'm free to shoot you for saying it.

ACK! More stupidity!!
Vladimir Lenin: Murder, arson, terror, I'll agree to anything that gives us power. Power! And we can't have power if we compromise. Even though it takes years, power, and terror.

Plus, they made-up the actor (Michael Bryant) to have beady eyes that looked like they had been beaten with a log! And wait! There's more!

Vladimir Lenin: All I'm interested in is power in Russia. It's lying there on the streets, waiting to be picked up. Kerensky won't last. He's still fighting the war, and the people are desperate for peace. I shall offer them peace.

What an ass!

Plus, it has him frequently whoring for attention and applause. Despicable! In addition, Trotsky (and Stalin, but that's forgivable) are depicted as grey-faced, sweaty, mostly silent dogs that follow Lenin around.

Well, the movie was centered around Nicholas and Alexandra, and viewers are meant to be sympathetic towards them.

Necessary disclaimer: I have not seen the film.

JA,

You are right in your point, but your comment still disturbs me that you do not seem sufficiently critical. I want to know why the czar and czarina deserve a flattering biopic.

Of course, it is easy for a communist like myself to take shots at monarchs. To Hell with all of them as far as I am concerned, but the historian in me is even more offended. No one is in such dire need of glory that history should be rewritten to make them look good (or make their adversaries look bad).

Ack, no, by no means do they deserve a flattering biopic. I was only saying that the filmmakers, scriptwriter, and so on for Nicholas and Alexandra were attempting to paint a sympathetic portrait of Nicholas and Alexandra, thus their negative portrayal of Nicholas and Alexandra's "opponents".

Sounds like a nauseatingly reactionary pile of horse shit.
What the fuck were they thinking when they thought it would be enlightning to show these ****s as good people. Perhaps they'll show Hitler as a good guy in opposition to the Soviets as well.... if they haven't already.
