well in the spanish language the "ch" sound is alot harder than it is in english...it sounds like their is a "t" in front of it cuz of it.....for example, if you were to ask a spanish person to say "chevrolet" they would pronounce it with a strong "ch" sound like "tchevrolet"

Odd that my thread would be moved to the Eresto Che Guevara section, where there is no option for poll creation ^^;

I like Shay better, personally ;).
Also, since I am a stupid uninformed Western teenager I always read it as Shay, because its not like anybody around here knows anyway.

I find it kind of hard to believe that Gue would be pronounced as Gih, especially in Spanish. I also think ei represents a Spanish E better than a long English A.

Yeah, good point ^_^
I just wanted to get an idea about how many people are mispronouncing his name, there really don't seem to be that many.
At least nobody voted that they pronounced it Shay Gwaverra, even though enigma admitted to saying it that way in his post.
Pay attention to the pronunciation that Jacobo Arbenz gives, that's the right one :D
T-chay Gei-vah-rah.

"Che" means something like "dude" in Cordoba right? So Ernesto "Che" Guevara has gone into history as "El Che"..."The Dude" <_< EAT THAT BIG LEBOWSKI!!!

i hesitate to stir up this issue again, but here goes
in spanish class, we were always taught "v"s were pronounced like "b"s ("b" burro versus "v" vaca), so it would be geh bah rah
i could be wrong. . .my spanish teacher was from Barcelona, so we learned the spanish dialect. . .little things like the vosotros verb form that most people who took spanish (mostley they teach latino dialect) have no idea what i'm talking about

I don't know about that, on the documentary El Che: Investigating a Legend you can see a Cuban demonstration where they prounounce the v, it sounds about the same.
Sometimes foreign language teachers can give bad advice, I once had a French teacher from Quebec who said that the French term for "Together" was "class-capet" or something like that. I lived in France for two years, and the term used for together was always ensemble..
