Venezuelans should monitor voting rights of US

"I am a US citizen of European ancestry who has never been to Venezuela but is very interested in your country's effort at self determination and democracy.

I understand the Carter Center and other organizations have been spending a lot of time in Venezuela lately trying to make sure your elections are fair.

In the interest of curiosity, I have been wondering what the international community will do here in the USA to have fair elections as compared to what they have been doing in Venezuela..."

As i've said before, the referendum in Venezuela cannot solve the problems faced by the working class.

First and foremost, the elections divert the attention away from the main task which is fighting for social and economic power, fighting for socialism.

If Chavez wins the referendum hands down the opposition will cry "fix" to Washington, who will in turn step up their campaign to install a military dictatorship in the country.

If Chavez wins the election with the opposition vote higher than before then they will see themselves as 'making progress' and will continue to fight the workers and Chavez with their dirty tricks.

If Chavez loses the election (which I really don't think will happen) then there is serious problems.

Elections will solve nothing here, they are nothing but a diversion. The opposition should be crushed and not given these democratic rights which they abuse and seek to destroy, sometimes I despair that Chavez is being "too nice" or perhaps naive towards these people.

They won't give up, destroy them and destroy their system

If Chavez would deny the referendum and voting the US would do something more direct, like what they tried with Cuba in the past, assassination attemps, terrorism against the people, stuff like that.
