Godless Communism (http://www.authentichistory.com/images/1960s/treasure_chest/godless_communism.html)
For a bit of a laugh check out this comic from the '60s, it's got some funny bits in it.
I hope this belongs in this forum, it's historic.
Spot the mistakes, I noticed that it said Marx was taught at university by G.W.F. Hegel, but I was under the impression that Hegel was dead for a few years when Marx went to University.

Great stuff! I love it how they portray Marx as really evil, even though the don't explain the simple premise of communism, which is the denouncement of capitalism because it exploits the workers. Somehow making people poor under capitalism is acceptable, but not under a dictatorship that claimed to be communist, but WASN'T. I hate it how anti-commie supporters always miss the point that the USSR was a socialist dictatorship, not a communist society.
A few favourite lines: "Teacher said there is no god"
"This is your communist government speaking"
"They took the building and didn't even ask the owner"
Anyone else notic that Mercader, Trotsky's killer, was wearing a sombrero and a poncho?

Reading through these cartoons that tell us of the "evil communists" <_< , if i was to list what i thought from these cartoons what American freedom was, i would say -
- The imprisonment of women in the home, existing only as a domestic servant and reproductive machine
- The right to consider your country superior to others and to control "weaker" nations and to help "free" communist nations
- The right to be sheep, brainlessly following the Church instead of thinking for themselves
- That Communism is not good enough for blonde, blue eyed All-American citizens
- That Capitalism is obviosuly so perfect that it simply must be better than Communism <_<
I feel sorry for the people who made these and for the people who believed their lies, because they are just sheep that most likely never questioned authority, never questioned the existence of a "god" and just went about in their convetional, conservative, backwards lives thinking that Communism was evil.

A foreign power invades their country, takes over their governmenr, takes away their civil liberties, starts sending people to forced labour camps and breaks up their family, and what do they do?
Barricade the streets?
Organise themselves into guerila bands to take back what's theirs?
Call in a nationwide strike to bring the country to a halt?
No, they just accept it...honestly!

The young Marx didn't leave for university until he was seventeen, to which he attended Bonn. After a year at Bonn; his farther decided that it would be best for the "young rouge" to study at the "intellectual capital of world", at the time, Berlin.

Too true, mate.
The ultimate irony has to be the fact that the comic criticises indoctrination of a set of beliefs as an affront to free will, yet in itself is an overt atempt to influence the youth and quash any leftist beliefs which they might hold

My thought, after I finally stopped laughing of course, is how totally inept such propaganda must have been.
It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that there were ex-Catholic kids in SDS who had actually read that piece of shit...and decided to look into this commie stuff.
Imagine...a Catholic kid going to a Catholic high school (hellholes of brutality back then) and he reads that "under communism, all the priests & nuns are sent to a really nasty labor camp".
