Violinists

I play violin, does anyone else here play?

My favorite current violinists would definately have to be Nigel Kennedy, Iona Brown, Spiros Rantos and Sandile Khemese. And on the subject of Sandile Khemese, does any one else here listen to, or has any one ever head of the Soweto String Quartet? I have their first CD zebra crossing going almost constantly at the moment. Really good!

im going to play in a band together with my girlfriend who plays the violin, and there is a norwegian band named "Gåte" who is kinda "folk/metal" with violins in it, something that works really well...

oh ok, Never heard of that particular group, although here "down under" there are numerous goth/black metal bands that have violinists. One that sticks in my mind is a band from melbourne called Lycanthia....they were pretty good, when i was into that scene.

I don't play violin, but my favorite violinist is, most definitely, the great Eyvind Kang.

I also play the viola and piano, both self taught (I have waaaay too much time on my hands!).

I have been playing for about 13 years now. I also play the Guitar, Bass (guitar, although would very much like to start on the Contra-Basso) french horn and derboukka. So I don't really have a whole lot of time on my hands! :P

I remember you also started a thread a while back asking about opera? do you also study theory? I love doing theory! and am doing my grade 5 exam in a little over a month!
