An explosion in southern Gaza has killed at least 5 Israeli soldiers at an army post near an illegal Jewish settlement.

Both Hamas and the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades have claimed responsiblity for the attack.

At the time of the explosion, the base also came under mortar and assault rifle attack.

Palestinian resistance fighters vowed to avenge an Israeli raid into the West Bank city of Nablus in which a top Martyrs Brigade leader was killed.

It seems that the Palestinian resistance is not cowering to the Zionist entity's occupation of its land, as the assasination of Hamas leaders was intended to make them do.

Long live the Arab resistance to all forms of occupation and colonization of their land.

6 Palestinians die in Israeli attack

uploaded 27 Jun 2004

NABLUS, June 26: The West Bank leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a key militant group, and five other Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army during a raid in Nablus on Saturday.

Nayef Abu Sharkh was appointed two months ago as the West Bank leader of the Brigades, a part of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction.

Israeli sources said troops found the militants inside a house, hiding behind a wall. The soldiers then fired at them and threw grenades, the sources said.

Witnesses said Israeli troops ambushed and shot at the group. Medics confirmed the men had died of gunshot wounds.

"The Israeli army committed a massacre today. There is no justification at all for this killing," said Nablus governor Mahmoud Alaloul as residents gathered in the town and wept.

Earlier in the day, Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian who military sources said had confronted soldiers in Nablus. On Friday, soldiers killed two Palestinians during a massive raid.

I think you're missing the point; this news has been posted in support of the guerillas.
We hear so much of palestinian terrorism in the media (but not the majority of terrorist attacks that are carried out by Israel) that they try to make us believe that attacks on soldiers are included in this, which they are not.

Both Hamas and the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades have claimed responsiblity for the attack.
That worries me.
Those terrorist groups give the Palestinian resistance a bad name.
It was probably carried out by freedom fighters, who deserve our full support as they are doing something legal against the illegal occupation of their homeland, unlike the suicide bombers.

Thats because the fighters are not terrorist.

I have said this before and I will say this again. I oppose theocracy wherever it may be. This includes a Hindu state in India, a Christian state in Amerikkka, a Jewish state in Israel, or an Islamic state in Gaza.

That being said, I wholeheartedly agree that the Israeli occupation of the West Bank is illegal and based solely on the assumption that Muslims are godless. The problem is that groups like Hamas are more concerned about making a holy war than they are a liberatory one. I do oppose the aparthied-like condition in which the Palestinian people are held, but my fear is that once liberated, they will tyrranize the various other religious minorities in the area.

Oh, the one I read said five were killed and more were injured, and some were stuck in rubble.

It's hard to tell, they revised the death toll after medics arrived, this was a breaking news post.

In realted news, an American transport plane in Bagdad came under fire and one American was killed.

for those who criticize the plight of Hamas, can i ask you: have you ever lived in a police state? have you ever lived under the military occupation of another well funded and relentless terrorist state?

the word "terrorist" can be applied in more ways than one. and i wouldn't use this in reference to any palestinian resistance fighters. ‘A label predefines a subject by simply giving it a positive or negative tag without the benefit of any explanatory details.” – Michael Parenti

I can't support Hamas because they organise suicide bombings against civilians, which is terrorism. This just gives the Palestinian cause bad press and also gives the Zionists an excuse to oppress the Palestinians.
I do support those who attack the soldiers though, and if was the only thing that Hamas did, I would support them.

Wow, I read an interview with a foreign insurgent in Iraq on Sunday, and he said that he had orders to go to the airport with an RPG sometime this week!

Hamas can be both good and bad at times. I really must say I disagree with their suicide bombings against innocent civilians, since that just gives the Israeli's an excuse to start killing more and more innocent Palestinians, so it only furthers the cycle of violence.

However, attacks on military targets are completely justifiable. After all the massacering that the IDF has committed, the Palestinians have every right to defend themselves against military aggression.
