Hate mail and vandalism against mosques have increased, see the article.
I myself have recently experienced this in a minor form, I erased racist comments that somebody wrote on a flyer for an Islamic student club at Middlesex Community College. What the vandal said could be paraphrased as, "fuck you ragheaded extremists," of course the vandal didn't seem to write in complete sentances.
