Hi comrades,
I am going to finish my highschool studies in 2003 and I thought that I would love to spend a year in Cuba after this. I thougt about the studying possibilities there. Do you know something about that, do you have your own experiences? Thanks if you can help me in any way (although I still do have a lot of time!)

its very hard but very possible.. are u in the US? if so, even harder.. but still possible..
if you have cuban family then school is free - it is 5 years long with 6 months of spanish classes.
If you do not have any family there and are just going there to study than it is 22,000 for the five years.. that includes transportation, housing, 3 meals, etc. etc. You can also get some money knocked off by teaching English classes to some of the younger students..
im currently getting authorized to go next summer.. call the Cuban relations section in washington (its hard, take about 3 hours out of your time).. good luck!

augsto here:
Despite popular belief it is possible to study in cuba as an american university student. For example Columbia U. is one of many institutions that has a study abroad program in cuba.

Make sure you don't have a business in the USA. :)

I am not yet sure about that what I would like to study. I still doubt between political science and French language.
I thought that maybe I'll contact the Cuban consulaat in Finland (we don't have one in Estonia) and I can ask advices from them.
Fortunately I am not from USA, so I hope it's easier for me to go there but actually I am not planning to stay there for 5 years, I would like to study just 1 year there, at least at the beginning... maybe later!
But thanks to you all!

Maybe the local communist party could pull some strings for you.

I'd always planned visiting Cuba for a few years but looking at this, I might try and study there.

From canada, or any other country that has relations with cuba than it is VERY easy to study in cuba.. if you are from the US, it is hard, but as Augusto said, it IS possible.
