Seriously, they were right when they said that it was the only band that mattered. Turn all that other stuff off and put The Clash on.

In all seriousness, they are great.

"Ivan Meets GI Joe", "London Calling", "Rock the Casbah", "English Civil War", too many damned good songs to name.

I can't beleive what I've been missing. I just barely started getting into the clash a few months ago. I first heard of the clash when I was in middleschool and my friends were turning "punk" but I never payed much attention until I heard Rock the Casbah and realised who it was by. Anyways, I'm hooked. I can think of other bands that matter though.

Why does everyone have such a hardon over the Combat Rock album ? I mean, Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay or Should I go were good songs, but I'd much rather hear Sandinista ! London Calling or Give Em Enough Rope. "Safe European Home" is one of the greatest songs ever.

Excellent band! I prefer them over DK for musicianship. But, Dead Kennedys were even more political in lyrics.

I like the energy of the DK's, they make me want to jump around more! But yeah, the clash are awesome too.

The Clash are a great band, similar to The Sex Pistols in some ways, but I think The Clash's lyrics are better.

how would you say they are similar to the sex pistols? The only things I can see is they are both political and both british.

There is a new punk DVD "Punk In London" out now that features some rare footage of The Clash.

Review:
Re-mastered from the original negative featuring The Clash and some of punks most important bands. Directed by German filmmaker Wolfgang Buld, this is a unique visual record of London punk life in the late seventies. Filled with unseen live footage and some incredibly naive comments. Punk in London is so loaded with history and brilliance that you can almost smell the energy!

I saw this, and was going to comment…but then I saw:

how would you say they are similar to the sex pistols? The only things I can see is they are both political and both british.

And my reply was already there.

the clash are great, the who are better

Bullshit.

Goddamn that’s a good fucking setlist. (or “tracklist”)

I prefer the American wave of punk bands (Television, Hell and the Voidoids, Smith), but still think their british followers are incredible.
