I think it was first coined after the French Revolution when the new French Republican government was divided with the conservtatives on the right and the more radical members on the left of the government assembly.

The terms right wing and left wing are used now to identify someones political standing. Not necessarily what ideology they subscribe to, but rather which end of the political spectrum they fall.

This may help you understand the concept better...You can also take a test to find out where you stand on the left/right divide. Of course it is no real indicater of your political beliefs, but it is good fun nevertheless.

so can I get a good crash corse in the Communist belife,

Communism is the concept of a society without a state, government, class, hierarchy with people contributing to society what they can and getting back what they need.

In a Marxist sense communism is the final stage of historical development.

Che-Lives Dictionary (http://www.che-lives.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25786)

This has basic discriptions on communism, marxism and historical materialism, foundation, intermediate and when you ready advanced.

After reading, if you have questons just ask. There are many different kinds of communists on this board who will all be very willing to give their side of the story.

who Che was.

He started his life as a traveller and has very sweetly been called the Jack Kerouac of south america. He went on to become a doctor and after meeting Fidel Castro in Mexico became a leader in the Cuban Liberation movement fighting the US backed dictatorship of Batista.

After the Cuban revolution he went on to form a socialist government with Fidel Castro, holding different political positions. In the early 60's however, he grew tired of his life as a politician and went to help fight in the Congo liberation struggle and later the Bolivian liberation struggle in which he was captured and killed.

This has brief biographies of both Che and Castro with links to other information.

My teachers in school seemed to try and avoid getting deeply involved in the topics.

it's very difficult for teachers to discuss revolutionary politics with their students, even if they want to. However, many times teachers attempt to distort the facts either because they don't understand them, know them or have a more sinister agenda.

I hope this has helped.

I think in the French Assembly, those who wanted a new law, or an altering of the law (progressive) went to sit on the left side, to be counted up. And those who wanted to maintain the status quo (conservative) sat on the right side.

i think it was this, thosewho want change went to the left, those who wanted to conserve wat was there already kept to the right. i think.
