Europe tackles 'honour killings'

European police are meeting in The Hague to look at ways of tackling the rising phenomenon of "honour killings".

They aim to set up a pan-European unit to combat the killings and crack down on related issues such as trafficking.

Police are re-opening murder files related to families of Turkish, Middle Eastern, Asian, Arabic and Eastern European origin over the past 10 years.

Many victims of "honour killings" are women involved in relationships their family felt brought dishonour on them.

Experts say such killings are on the rise in Europe, but as the issue remains largely hidden from public view, exact numbers are unknown.

I am going to compare you to a very famous Australian *ahem* Politician by the name of Pauline Hanson. Ms. Hanson was/is extremely anti-indigenous and racist. In her election campaigns in the past she would stir up stories of isolated cases of violence, abuse, vandalism, corruption etc. amongst indigenous communities in order to get support for her party. She had no actual positive or pragmatic solutions to these "Wide-spread" problems, and wasn't even interested in the slightest in doing something about it.

Are you begining to see the comparison Mr. Star? whilst I would not say you are racist, you are extremely and dogmatically anti-religious. You seem to highlight all these "problems" with religion and yet are not even interested in posing realistic and pragmatic solutions to them. I'm really not sure how speaking out against Honor killings is being "anti-religious" or "sensationalist", and I'm also puzzled by the fact that someone on this board is getting so upset over what he percieves as anti-religious statements.
