I didn't write it but so far it seems interesting and useful to use in debates as i am currently having

Having skim-read it, it's all would'ves and could'ves. The fact is that the Soviets DID get hit hard in the War. End of story. You can't argue that it was more successful than it was becasue it "could've done this if it wasnt for this"

^I don't think it said that. I think it said: considering what happened, they did not fail, but did a lot more (extremely lot) than they should have, or could have thought to have done.

Although no one can say for sure how the Soviet Union would have turned out if they hadn't deviated so far away from the actual Marxist-Leninist ideology that the country was founded upon, it definitely would have had them in a better state. It would have also helped if they would have checked their spending. At one point the USSR was spending over 50% of their GDP on arms alone. Reckless spending can only lead to diaster. THe US should take note.
