For a community of the radical left I think we are somewhat lacking in our ties to organized labor; for decades it has been the labor unions that have maintained the link between radical leftist theory and practice. Since this is practice perhaps we should have a sticky with a link to several of the radical unions (www.iww.org comes to mind here) or even some of the more mainstream unions such as UNITE and the AFL-CIO; and if the members here would rather abstain from endorsing any unions in particular http://www.labourstart.org/ provides an excellent international labor site with activist alerts and labor news not particular to any specific union.

All of this does not even take into account the process of actually joining a union, or organizing your fellow workers if already employed. It is the duty of every socialist and/or radical to fight the boss by every means possible. No method yet devised is superior to the union when carrying out our class struggle while on the job. I highly encourage everyone to read this informative article: http://www.aflcio.org/aboutunions/joinunions/ that gives a good background on mainstream labor today. After that it would suggest that everyone go to http://www.iww.org/organize/ and read some more specific tactics on unionizing from a radical viewpoint. Without unions how can we plausibly suggest: Workers of the World Unite!
