Just a week ago, the Bush Administration seemed to be the only Government in the world to support Israel and it's illigal occupation of Palistine.

Massive demenstrations against Israel in the Arab world, and even in the US has finally been sucsessful in telling Bush that he better start supporting the oppressed, and not the oppressors.

Bush can tell Israel to back out of Palestine all he wants but it still isn't enough. If he really wanted peace in the area he would stop funding Israel's army.

KEEP FIGHTING UNTIL THEY GIVE IN

Yes Israel's army is the largest army in the middle east thanks to the US... The situation in the middle east has spiraled out of control. I have never heard of a war where the Red Cross was stopped from helping people!

The US may be the only government that can stop Israel, but it may be too little to late...

Yeah the palestinian red crescent which is a chapter of the red cross has had its ambulances fired on all last year.

This all goes back to why wont America mind its own business for a change and stop being the inbetween man. then denying to the other side they had anything to do with why half their men are being killed. I dunno if that makes sense right off the back. I should probably type more. Maybe I'll come back cause I need to eat

I just heard on the radio that the Israeli government is going to let Arafat meet with the US envoy, maybe some change is on it's way.

Also I think there's a presidential election in Israel soon so if someone more moderate wins maybe peace will be on it's way.

Bush doesn't give a f**k about what happens to the Palestinians. The only reason he's upset is because Sharon's holocaust tactics are appaling every other country in the world and particularly the arabs (populations that is, not the useless governments) making it more dificult for him to go ahead with his primary agenda of bombing Iraq. It's quite remarkable how everyone is watching all of this from the sidelines and all they are doing is simply denouncing the Israelis' action. Today, on one of the channels, I watched a report of a palestinian man who's brother and mother have been shot inside their house and yet he was not allowed to bury them or take them to the morgue, instead, the bodies were rotting in the living room for 30 hrs. It just makes sick how everyone gets so angry and righteous whenever a rich american or european dies. However, when it's a poor defenceless palestinian/afghan/cuban/nicaraguan...etc, everyone just simply turns their head. Here's to the free, democratic & civilised world that we're living in, and to its sole and courageous defender, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Remember that America was attacked because of the illegal occupation of Palestine, that the USA were supporting.

America chose to ignore this warning, and also chose to create war.

So if they stop backing Israel now, they will greatlyembarrass themselves in front of the whole world, and this would also stop them from continuing their war against "terror".

I doubt that America will actually say "Enough is enough" and mean it.

I agree with what davinci said about the US just wanting be able to go on and bomb Iraq undisturbed. The resolution the US proposed at the UN encouraged the plans of the arab nations and therefore gaining their sympathy. Having done this it's much easier for the US to just go ahead with the whole bombing Iraq thing.

Here Israel, have our guns, have our tanks, have our planes, and bombs and bullets. Do you need another hike in expenditures? Sure! That's what my adminstration is all about, a shallow lend-lease for my friends to bomb the shit out their enemies, YEE HAW! Isn't war fun? And so lucrative!?

Oh, but wait! Don't you dare use those weapons! I mean it! What are you doing!? STOP! STOP RIGHT NOW! I didn't mean for you to actually use the 6 billion in arms we've given you over the past year and a half! Are you crazy? Stop, I mean it...well I think I do...

BUSH IS A FUCKING HYPOCRITE, LIAR, AND MORON.

On the contrary, the world needs someone to stand in the middle of them and mediate between the two sides. It's not as simple as saying that they should be left alone.

I, too, would love for the U.S Government to be completely out of the zone. But I know that some Government somewhere needs to step in. Preferrably not a Government that's strongly aligned with the U.S, so both the British and Australian governments are out of the running, in my book.

As mentioned at the top of my post, what is needed is someone to take a neutral ground, and to work as a moderator. Someone who won't be bribed, accept threats, etc., and will just do their job, then get the hell out of there when the time is right, lest they overstay their welcome.

Personally, I would give my vote for the United Nations to take up the role, but not yet. The U.N was based upon a fantastic theory, which it has since lost sight of. It's no longer above certain Governments, otherwise they would have control of this whole thing. When that changes, they'll have my full vote of confidence.

I notice, also, that dear ole Bush has backpedalled since Sharon told him to stick his request where the sun doesn't shine. Zinni's gotten threatened for "bossing people around", and Powell's being pressured because of his support for a Palestinian State. Then there's that incident where the U.S (and international) Journalists are being shot at by the Israeli military. Then there's that other "little incident" about 21-year-old U.S Citizen, Suraida Saleh, being gunned down with her child in a car, by Israeli soldiers (What was she doing at the time? Just sitting there, apparently.) The U.S Government has refused to issue a statement regarding her death, nor follow through with any action whatsoever.

Not looking good on the international scene for the U.S.A right now. And yet the U.S Government is far too afraid to face Israel about it.

Can't say I'm particularly surprised.
