Today is the birthday of the Philippines' National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Such a great man. A genius and a hero at the same time. He is truly the Pride of the Malayan Race. But I wonder if anybody here knows him at all.

His poem "Mi Ultimo Adios" is amazing, but apart from that I didn't know anything about him. But now I've done some reading through the internet I'm surprised he isn't so well known. Strange... one of my friends is half Filipino an he hadn't heard of him.

Wow, I think I have given him some exposure here. A great gift on his birthday.:D

It's such a shame that there are Filipinos who do not know him. If it weren't for him (and many others), we would still be under Spanish rule. I think he deserves recognition like the other heroes being mentioned here.
