Destroying Capitalist Brands/Icons

I first petitioned to have a fine art section added, for us to post our and and photos and talk about them; I figured literature politics and philosophy in general are covered why not art. Instead we got this section which seems to be propaganda related, so I'll run with it, someone please help me make a difference though. Below you see the water brand "Pump" as distributed by Coca-Cola, it was hailed as NEW which offended me as if they'd invented water, it's more expensive per litre to buy than petrol in Australia and the Shit falls from the sky. There are two things in life we should never have to pay for and if we do they are a mark of desperation they are sex and water. I think you are DUMB if you buy this product, DUMB if you flaunt it, and DUMB if you are one of the people selling it. Ideally I'd like to see capitalist icons like this satirised in the same clean way they are presented to us and taken to the street, stuck over the products name in stores, grafitti stenciled to the buildings of the companies or at the tamer end of the spectrum displayed in a real gallery space that makes this capitalist consumer propaganda obvious to the viewer. Please help me with this. I'd really like to see someone take the "L" off the end of the Castrol oil logo.

I did one a while ago that was a rip off the Converse logo so instead of saying "Converse All Star; Chuck Taylor" it says "Communist All Star; Che Guevara" and I changed the Blue Star to a red one. I'll post it soon.

To attach a piccy, firstly hit the &#39;new reply&#39; (not &#39;fast reply&#39;) button, and underneath the sections marked &#39;Enter your post&#39; is a segment called &#39;File attachments&#39; with a form entry box and a &#39;browse&#39; button. Simply browse to the file on your computer&#39;s HDD and click &#39;submit&#39;

Re-load the pictures into your favourite editing program and click file->save as

The bottom of the dialog that pops up should have a pull-down menu - select the file type of either .gif or .jpg then try again.

You should probably resize the image to something smaller then try uploding it again. You can do it in nearly an graphics program just go to edit then click on image size. Set your resolution to 300 pixels per inch and put on auto constrain if you have it as an option, then kepp making your image smaller until it allows you to load it. If that doesn&#39;t work then I don&#39;t know what&#39;s wrong.

having read only the posts in the first page of this 16 page long thread, i can&#39;t see why people would revolt against brand names, and use ADBUSTERS as a source of inspiration...
In case none have noticed, what adbusters creatively manages to do by going ANTI-brands, is create it&#39;s own BRAND&#33; just look at their black spot shoes...

Kind of reminds me of a food products line here in Canada called - and get this - NO NAME &reg;...

Where&#39;s the irony? in the &reg; maybe? or in the fact that you&#39;re substituting 1 brand by another, only to fulfill a specific portion of the market that is left for dead, unless someone takes over it (like the black spot shoes once again)...?

Just made this one after some discussion in another part of the forum. I don&#39;t intend it to be serious and the Vietnam picture implies something dirty that I don&#39;t mean it was just an easy and iconic pic to use. Che has become a brand of his own really to exploit dumb RATM kids and whatnot to capitalist ends in many ways. So here is the man reclaiming his image. The image would work better if you white out the victims face to make it anonymous in retrospect though. Feel free to print it onto an iron on transfer and slap it on a shirt.

I just went through this thread and it seriously needs to be cleaned. This is a picture thread; please remember that and take the time to upload your images onto the server or somewhere like a photobucket account.

Most of Kurai Tsuki&#39;s posts are fucked little broken liks now and pretty much all of pages 2 and 3 don&#39;t exist.

Cthenthar can you please clean up this thread? It needs it. If people want they can re-post that&#39;s fine but leaving the option open for them to edit and put the pics up again is just serious thread clutter.

This is visual based idea not word and if the visual isn&#39;t there then there is no point in leaving the post up. Can all posts consisting of only broken images please be deleted?

Please take the time to consider making your images long term and don&#39;t rely on linking to other found hosts

I&#39;ve got an idea if somebody wants to make it but I might get around to it later if nobody feels like it.

The idea is just a condom ad for red coloured condoms with a caption something like &#39;capitalism is a deadly disease, protect yourself, better red than dead&#39;.

The idea is something of a pisstake on ol propaganda posters I suppose but not a very deep or bright one just a bit of fun.
