View Full Version : Music that descibes you as a person?
Floyd.
18th June 2004, 06:26
I have not put in any shit I've excluded thousands of artists, of course there are other good ones but this is the foundation for me as a person and what was needed in order to get from one step to the next, some are more influential than great. Nobody fucking claim this list as their own either so as to make sure everybody knows who wrote it my real name is Floyd Duncan but my friends call me Comrade.

When it comes to lyrics, it depends how I'm feeling as to what I go towards. But I don't listen to skinhead punk or anything like that. For me music is a form of escapism, it's me getting away from boarding school and stuff. So what I listen to reflects someone pretty different to who actually exists.

You're finally learning....=D
For the majority of the time, lyrics play a bigger part than the music for me. I could listen to songs that I don't really like musically if they're lyrically sound but not as much vice versa.

I'm completely the other way round.... I couldn't give a damn what they're saying, to me it's all about the music. I'm never happier than listening to some spanish guy moaning away over a soft acoustic guitar (and for all I know he's talking about raping his mother).
On the same note, irregardless of the lyrical content there is a lot of music I can't listen to - Stuff like, for example, RATM. I understand why people do like it, but I just can't stand it myself.

Music that describes me must be artists/bands/songwriters like:
PJ Harvey
Stooges
Danzig
Beethoven
Joe Hill
Raised Fist
Kool Keith
Slayer
Pixies
Charlie Parker
Of course there's many more, but I think those shows the diversity I think I have. (not to be pompous or anything  )

If I were describing my personality, I'd probably put myself some where between The Icky Boyfriends, "No Control"-era Bad Religion, and The Newtown Nuerotics. Politically, I'm probably somewhere between Propagandhi, Closet Monster, Feederz, and CRASS.
Yup.

You're an anti-semitic homophobe??
Oh and btw, Ian Mackaye was Minor Threat vocalist too.
Err no I'm not anti-semitic or a homophobe, but I do liek music is that fair? Since when are Bad Brains either? [/b]
I'm not tying to answer for them, but mybe it's the whole rasta thing?
Not that all rasta's are anti-semetic, but they often aren't too fond of gays. :(

I'd like to say Edith Piaf and her music describes a pert of me pretty well.
I could of edited and put it in my first post on page 1 but I figured this thread could do with a good kick up the arse.
If somebody would invest a little bit of thought into their list like I did for the first one and is willing to bare that much of themselves then I'll listen attentively.
