I thought i'd share this...

"..the major event of the twentieth century has been the abandonment of the values of liberty on the part of the revolutionary movement, the weakening of Libertarian Socialism, vis-a-vis Caesarist and militaristic Socialism. Since then, a great hope has disappeared from the world to be replaced by a deep sense of emptiness in the hearts of all who yearn for Freedom...."

I'm sorry but there is nothing to imply anything of anarchism there?

I dont like that quote, maybe because im not sure if i fully comprehended it. its saying basically that revolutionary violent leftist movements tend to do damage to those same leftists values of liberty, and overall gives social libertarians a bad name, right?

He is saying that one of the biggest tragedies in the twentieth century is the abandonment of libertarian ideals in socialism to be replaced with authotarian socialism. He says that because that has happened "...a great hope has disappeared from the world to be replaced by a deep sense of emptiness in the hearts of all who yearn for Freedom...."

"Mistaken ideas always end in bloodshed, but in every case it is someone else's blood. That is why some of our thinkers feel free to say just about anything." - Greatest Camus quote of all time.

Props to Camus, he was one of the only of the French communist intelligentsia to come out and say the USSR was not communist, never was communist, and never will be communist while the rest of the Parisian elite were apologizing for Stalin's crimes.

Camus was not an anarchist. Simply put. To judge him as such would be to try to bend a complex mind into your own ideology.

Great refutation!

He certainly wasn't a leninist.

No, he didn't. But at least now we're clear.

Following the near heart attacks of some of the fucking philosophy nuts on this board I have changed the title of the thread...

Wouldn't that contradict what I just said?

Fucking anarchist nut...

BTW, Camus was not a rationalist, so I see no possibility of Anarchism.
