1984.... not exactly... this is 1984 where the world is controlled by coperations. Look around you, it's everywhere. The streets have been taken over a lond time ago by huge, overwhelming, vulgar and huge advertises. One can no longer walk in the street without encountering some sort of invasion of his privacy... "an extraordinary rape of the soul" common to totalitarian states and political religions.

But the worst danger lies within our very own houses- the telescreen(also known as T.V.). These devices are the ultimate form of brainwashing, as they attack you in between different parts of your movie, AND YOU MUST WATCH. And sometimes, at some situations these devices work on our sub-counciouss, raping us from within.

I urge you, comrades, for the sakes of all of us, please get rid of your televisions, for they are the symbol of Capitalism in the west. Those of you who have children should immiedietly do so. If you cannot elimenate T.V. watching time compeletely, you must choose to watch certain programs only, avoiding commercials and news specifically. News is the bullshit the government feeds. Commercials are the things behind the news, sponsoring it.

I am sure that there weren't any commercials and advertisement on the TV during Soviet time. But they still used TV for their propaganda.

T.V. does have immense power as a propaganda tool because of it's very visual messege. I think it will always be used badly unless the channels will be divided into like: government, movies, commercials, music and so on so you can watch only what you want to. But that isn't practical. I believe that at this point it would be best to read your leftists papers and rent any movies on video.

I think what happened, was that you'd see this product (what ever they were selling) for a split second. This gets caught in your mind, many wern't aware they'd even seen this image. However, they had. And was found to be a very succesful method of advertising...till it got banned.

It's not bullshit. I got that from a book called "Culture Jam" by Kalle Lasn. He based it on his research with the advertizing business's OWN demographics.

Think about it, how many billboards do you see on your drive to work? How many commercials do you see while watching TV for even an hour? How many ads do you see surfing the net?

This 'war on terror' is so fucking VAGUE that, yes, it will be fought for years to come. But those in power want it vague, if you finally killed everyone in question, the highly lucrative war would have to eventually end. Which is why even if Bin Laden is dead, we'll never know it.
