Many of you in the US may know that Friday is going to be an international day of mourning for the passing of Ronald Reagan.
I think it would be a great idea if some of the more creative people on che-lives pulled together a flyer that some of us can hand out or hang up around our cities.
I'd pull something together myself but my plate is rather full at the moment and I'm not quite as artistic as some others on this board.
I was thinking something in the lines of a photo of Ronald Reagan in a cowboy hat.. (Like what's on the cover of the is weeks issue of Newsweek)
With the title "Remembering Ronald Reagan" on the top... than sort of a list of all the bad stuff about his administration...
maybe someone here can come up with a good idea for a flyer and post it here?
We're sure to piss off alot of people but in my opinion we can't allow for the mindless worshiping to continue!

Here's all the bad stuff that happened during the time Reagan was in office, how much of it he is personally responsible for is debatable.
1982: 1,800 US marines are dispatched to Lebanon in order to assist in the withdrawal of the PLO from Beirut.
1982: The US creates a Cambodian rebel force called the CDGK (Coalition of the Democratic Government of Kampuchea). The CDGK was dominated by the Khmer Rouge (who, under Pol Pot, had killed 25% of Cambodians in four years of genocide) and received over 20$ million a year in US financing.
1982: US Senate passes a bill outlawing CIA support to Contra terrorists, CIA continues operations in Nicaragua anyway. In 1984 Nicaragua sued the US for $17 billion and won, but America “didn’t recognize the decision” and never paid.
1982: General Efrain Rios Montt (a former SOA student), in a US backed coup, gained control of Guatemala. During the first 6 months of his regime, 2,600 natives had been slaughtered. Despite this, President Reagan commended him and openly stated “Rios Montt is totally dedicated to democracy.”
1983: After Grenadan socialist leader Maurice Bishop is assassinated, the US invades Granada after a supposed request from the OECS (Organization of East Caribbean States). The 7,000 US forces sent there are met by extreme resistance from Grenadan and Cuban forces. After the fighting had ceased, 19 Americans, 30 Cubans, and 49 Grenadans had been killed. After which, a pro-American regime stepped into power, and one of it’s first acts was a mass censorship and book burning program.
1983: US denies it’s role in a continuing sabotage of Angola’s government, including funding of anarchist forces and sabotaging factories.
1983: US air forces attack Syrian planes after a Hizbollah suicide bombing, which killed 241 Marines.
1985: 39 US warships and 7,000 US troops invade Honduras to ward off “Nicaraguan invaders”, which never came.
1985: US continues its support of anti government forces in Angola, this time thanks to President Reagan and Congress, by sending advanced weapons and artillery. It wasn’t until 1993 that this support ended.
1985: 80 people are killed in a CIA car bomb attack, next to a mosque, while they were attempting to assassinate Sheikh Fadlallah in Lebanon. The Sheikh survived the attack.
1986: After a US attack kills 35 Libyan sailors, Colonel Gadhaffi calls for worldwide attacks on Americans. After a disco bomb killed 232 people, the US retaliates by dropping bombs on Tripoli, killing 40.
1986: The US army shuts down 21 cocaine refineries in Bolivia, but 6 months later the production levels are above the previous level.
1986: Haitian dictator ‘Baby Doc’ Duvalier is escorted out of his country to France by US fighter jets, after a popular rebellion ousted him. Due to extreme unrest, the CIA creates a provisional government controlled by the NIS (National Intelligence Service). The NIS kills more people in 21 months than Duvalier had killed in the last 15 years.
1987: Reagan increases US presence in the Persian Gulf due to tensions caused by the Iran-Iraq War.
1988: US warship USS Vincennes mistakenly shoots down civilian plane Air flight #655, killing nearly 300 passengers and crew.
1988: After the US had used Panamanian land for the last 20 years for training death squads, aiding military forces in El Salvador and Nicaragua, and letting Contras train there, the US supports the a revolt against General Manuel Noriega (who had let the US there “business” in exchange for supporting his regime), who had been one of Latin America’s worst human rights violators. US forces in Panama grow to 12,000.
Edit: But fuck yeah, someone with photoshop: get on this right away, it's tomorrow!

some good stuff there... can't really credit all of it to him.. plus some stuff's missing like.. 1981: Fired air traffic controlers who walked out on strike due to unsafe working conditions caused by long shifts.

Of course, you mean national ;)
I'll admit that figures such as Maggie Thatcher are going to be in attendance, but there will be no minutes silence here <_<
