Yeah, this is nothing new. I remember hearing some time last year that all the Republicans were trying to have him put on the dime and they wanted to get FDR off of it.

a republican i know wants to take george washington either off the dollar or off the quarter since he doesn't "deserve" to be on there twice. i might find myself requestion my change in different ways if such happens to be the case. i'd be extremely offended if reagan was on my currency.

To be honest, considering the man is better known for what he did wrong rather than right I think putting his face on the dollar would be incredibly apt. Over time it may even help to boost social awareness.

it'll never happen though, i doubt our government would take someone like FDR or Washington off of our money, they're too respected and recognized for that to happen.

I hope they put Reagan on some form of legal tender prefarably the $20 or the $50. His impact is greater than Jackson's and Grant's. Grant's administration is know for being corrupt even in the United States. Jackson was an Indian murderer and is portrayed as such even in some of the schools in the US I've attended. Then we have, Reagan, the closest thing to god, never shown in a negative light in any textbook I've seen. It would make sense for him to be replace on of the other two. It's a shame that the main proposals are to get rid of Hamilton or FDR, i definetely don't want to see them go.

And the Regan administration wasn't corrupt? Iran Contra anyone? Regan murdered thousands in Central America and Lebanon.

I sincerely hope you are being sarcastic.

Okay, I agree with you there.

Guerilla22 Reagan definetely was corrupt, but i was just saying that he isn't known for being corrupt. I'm sure you know about his excuses on the Iran-Contra Scandal. It's just that grant is known for corruption and Reagan is known for helping the collapse of the Soviet Union. I was being sarcastic about the godly thing but not the text book part, I am just merely stating what is, or rather what I have seen.
Ziggy, what was the negative aspect of reagan portrayed in one of your text books?

One other thing the average American will usually forget about Reagan and his administration is the action taken by the US in Grenada. Even so i would still like to see him on some money, it would be amusing.

timbaly, it was my ap world text book, it basically talked about how reagan brought about recession and deficit of high levels, his policies towards other countries, and stuff like that. i can't remember exactly what it said because we turned our book in a few weeks ago

our currency already has imperialists, slave owners, murderers and mad men on them what difference does it make if they have Kennedy or Reagan?

I would feel sorry for you but we have the Queen on ours.

I think it's more of a pity for us brits. The Queen is a relic of a bygone age.
Kind of like fitting a Mclaren F1 with oil lamps.

Hamilton was a prick who felt the "faceless horde" needed to be goverened by "exceptional individuals", and FDR only enacted the New Deal to save the two party system that was losing steam to Socialist candidates, and get the working class back on board.
It's pretty ironic that they want to put the face of a president that was responsible for turning the U.S. into a debtor nation for the first time, greatly increased the gulf between the rich and poor, cut taxes to the wealthiest from 70% to 28%, and who brought us the brilliance of "trickle down" and "reaganomics", on a piece of currency. He was a real "Wall Street Darling"
I'm sure he'll end up on some currency. Maybe it will end up being a 100,000 dollar bill. The people that loved him the most, and benefitted the most from his policies are the ones most likely to see it.
