In relation to their (the Iraqis) income, that is what they can afford. The fact that the U$ seems to think they are owed cheap gas is beyond my understanding. Do they import most of their needs?
What I find upsetting is the "free" market that has been set up with cheap cars when these people will not be able to afford them once "reality" sets in.
This is disgustingly low.
I thought that the 30p per litre in the U$ was wrong, but this just takes the biscuit!
Petrol should be at least 3x what it is in the U$.

5 cents for gas is small compensation for being invaded and bombed to the stone age.

What about the Iraqis having the fuel for free and let them sell it to the Americans for the prize THEY (the Iraqis) want for it.

nice point. The oil is pumped out in iraq, refined in iraq and sold in iraq. Why should the US oil companys have ANYTHING to do with them? If fair is fair the iraqi government should demand that the oil fields be nationalised.

It's the Iraqi's oil, why should they have to pay extravagant amounts for it? Part of the reason gas prices in the U.S. are so high is because of OPEC, however a larger part of it is the oil companies, which are unregulated and are making massive profits because they know the governmnet will never regulate them.

I think the comment was intended to intimate that US prices are so low that they consider it absurd that fuel is cheaper anywhere else
It's at least partially valid <_<
