Reagan could only have weeks to live

PARIS (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan's health is deteriorating and he could only have weeks to live, a U.S. source close to the situation has said.

"I was told it could be soon -- it could be weeks, it could be months," the U.S. source said of Reagan, adding he had long suffered from the brain-wasting disease Alzheimer's disease and his condition had worsened in the past week.

"Time is getting close," the source said on Saturday. But he added: "It is not like it is going to be tomorrow."

Reagan is now 93. A former actor, he was the U.S. president from 1981 to 1989.

I was just reading an article on Cnn.com that his office were deflecing reports that he was close to death.. and then I turn on Cnn news and they are reporting his death.

Weeks to Months? --- More like Hours to Minutes! It was pretty obvious when they came out and made a statement like that.. HOwever, it's Just annoying how deceptive the press and White HOuse is even over something like that. <_<

I almost feel like celebrating this monster's death, however I am also reminded that he has already left his mark on the world. His trickle down economiics policy put millions out of work. This man was nothing less than a criminal. Trading arms for hostages, even after Congress told him not to, the occupation of Beruit and his support for the Christian militias that slaughtered hundreds.

Not to mention, the funding of the Contras, who were nothing more than one big death squad, the installment of Noreiga in Panama and the funding of the brutal dictatorship in Guatemala. This man leaves behind a terrible legacy and the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent people is still on his hands.

It pisses me off that practically evrey single news organization is treating him like a fucking hero.

He's responsible for thousands of dead in places like El Salvador, Nicaragua, Gutaemala and Panama.

To some people I'm sure he was a hero... The news corporations pander to firstly the bourgious minority and then the unenlightened portion of the petit-bourgious and proletariat. Quite simply they try to offend as few people as possible in this kind of situation.

*EDIT*
Considering that the vast majority of people on this board take what they get from the mainstream media with a pinch of salt (to put it mildly!) I doubt they'd be too interested in how we feel about the glorification of reagan.

The media are portraying him as a hero because he is one of the most popular Presidents in history. Lets think about this, Reagan - widely regarded as a good guy, shoot a negative story about him....big no-no.

Who cares, its not like he ever actually ran the US himself, that was Nancy.

Its also quite morbid to be pleased when someone dies.

Also on refelection this is a bad thing, all this has done is make loads of Americans sad, and they will probably go on to giving one of Reagans successors another term in office. This could not have come at a worse time, after the election would have been much better.

Two things

1. I honestly don't like reagan, not in a personal way of course, I don't know him. I'm sorry that he died from such a horrible illness, and I'm sorry for his family, but honestly I don't like his politics and and I wont be shedding any tears.

2. Gett your celebrating while you can cuz Castro is next and the right wingers will have oh so much fun

How could anyone possibly mourn the death of this war criminal? He was a Fascist and I'm glad he is no longer in existence.

The mainstream news media here is making it seem like he was some sort of god and showing all this pro-Reagan propaganda. The government wants to make Friday a national day of mourning, but of course I'll be celebrating. :P
