John Howard has unvaled plans to widen the War on Terror, ie. to send troops to Yemen, Somalia, Iraq... to support the US. It seems we have been dragged into another "unwanted conflict" like that of Vietnam.

Not only that, but when the u.s. decides to begin another Veitnam it will also drag it's allies through the shit. Canada is the one I am most concerned with. Even when we disagree with their actions the government is so afraid to offend anyone that we will follow any ways. It is going to affect everyone.

Howard's always been a wanker, nothing new there. What's curious is that the latest plan of Parliament's use of Work For The Dole people in the Armed Forces. Train them up enough, make them work on natural disasters in the meantime, then trot them off to war.

little johnny is just full of bright ideas isnt he.
what did com bob mean when he said the war WAS about oil, it still is isnt it.
the war on terror is all about creating another propaganda model to have the public over with. the cold war then the drug war now this war. it would be funny if so many innocent poeple werent dying. little johnny should get his head out of the shrubs backside. why do the rest of the world have to jump when the yanks say so. america doesnt give a shit about any body but themselves, where were they when the ira were bombing england, oh thats right they were indirectly funding them. and the irish tried to blow thatcher to bits (which wouldnt have been a bad thing)
the yanks as you would probably already know are the only country to be conficted of state terrorism by the world court, maybe they should reflect on that and stop bombing third world countries into more dust.
this whole thing gives me the absolute shits.

for all the aussies out there if you want to find out more about how pathetic the howard gov are check out the Green Left Weekly.
the howard gov think that its a good idea to lock kids in prison because they could be terrorists, i think it could be a good thing because it keeps them out of reach of the govenor general peter hollingworth. because we all know that all children are asking to be sexually abused dont we(sarcasm intended). thats how bad the howard gov are they keep a head of state how hides or supports his clergy abusing its children
the goverment lied when it came to the children overboard pics and won goverment. they spied on the aussie public during the tampa crisis and know in parliment they are trying to give more power to asio and dsd what will come next i dread to think, and what are the crean oposition doing NOTHING

Naive, it doesn't sound like they're being forced into it, per se. Well, technically they are - my understanding of the Work For The Dole system is that people have to do it or the payments stop - but it seems that they've got a choice as to whether they do their time with the military or through the usual channels.

What's really worrying is that as much as I respect the military in a peace-keeping role, I cannot accept their position in Afghanistan or anywhere like that. Having said that, I'm a strong believer that the Work For The Dole project, as it currently stands, is not effective enough. Even a visiting pollie from New Zealand pointed out a while back that it was a failure, and New Zealand has officially dropped it's scheme because of it's ineffectiveness.
I'm concerned that the new military option will become more attractive to people than the usual process of fulfilling W.F.T.D guidelines - therefore padding out our military by joining up properly after their W.F.T.D obligations are over (guaranteed position, decent pay - a stability that the 'normal' workforce cannot supply well enough these days), and be marched off overseas to either slaughter or be slaughtered.
