I'm going to see them tonight at the Shepards bush empire, their album "Bari" is simply one of the best new albums of the last few years..
Out of Barcelona they fuse Flamenco and Rumba with Hip hop, dub and other as yet unclassified sounds.. If you don't know, get to know..

Pink pop? That doesn't sound too encouraging.. Ah well, never mind they were unfuckingbeliveable.. Magic.. They have a message too, they spoke of no borders, no nations, anti imperialism whilst images of Iraq, Palastine and of George W and Abrham Lincoln burned on the massive screen behind them..
They are politically, ferociously left wing but unlike some bands I could mention they never let it destroy the music, which came over with such intense feeling.. Arabic lutes, Tabla's, Afro Cuban percussion, flutes - big fucking beats, scratching rapping, piercing Flamenco shrieks and howls, Ole's, dubbed out bass, spacey effects, amazing dancing and singing - they've got the lot and give more.. Best band in the world..

Danton- if you like ojos de brujo check out ESTOPA. They are absolutely wonderful. They use traditional Spanish music and mix in some rock. Its definitely a unique sound in my opinion. I've never really heard anything like that. So yeah, the band is ESTOPA and they just put out a new album called LA CALLE ES TUYA? Songs 1, 2, 4, 9, and 11 are the best ones on the album, but the album in general is fabulous.
