View Full Version : THE SMURFS - typical life style of communism

If anyone knows the great cartoon called the Smurfs, then he/she know that that is an ideal look to communism (not utopian, but close). They work together, as one. They all gather if there is any trouble and they solve it together. They are all equal. And they all must protect themselves against the evil capitalist Gargamel, who wants to boil them for gold (typical capitalist). Children should watch this great cartoon and learn from it. W

What do you think, people?

Ah, that realy does make sense. I used to watch the Smurfs when I was really young, but I do remember the messages, and now it all comes together.

I dislike Star Trek, therefore would not know, however I doubt it.

When I lived on a commune, we couldn't afford those great hats that the smurfs had. But I get your point.

I never liked Star Trek but there was an article in The Nation a few weeks ago about how the new series is right-wing-ish and shitty.

yes it is very utopian communist, i hope in any utopian communist society that comes about we get to run around and shoot lazers and wear funky make-up!

Hey now, I was the one who introduced that site to the community. It's not funny, it's stupid. Whoever made that is some idiot capitalist.

I'm not a big fan of Star Trek either, but I'm rather fond of the old Star Trek with Lernerd Nemoy and William Shatner.

But... as far as Communist symbolism within Star Trek... Yes... it's defiantly there.. and I know exactly where it comes from!

Star Trek, the original series, was not very new at all. It wasn't even an original thought! All the episodes... all the plots, characters, people the meet.. etc... where taken from old pulp magazines... especially magazines like "Amazing Stories"... and stories written from Science Fiction writers like Fredrick Pohl and Isaac Asimov

Why where the stories of these two and the rest of their group so... "Communist"? Because when they where written... they all where!

When I was in the Navy, there where very few books on my ship to read, and I found myself reading the auto-biography of Fredrick Pohl, even though I never read his books.

Pohl does allot of back stepping in his book, he tries to explain his association with communism during his youth as a 'youthful fascination' and goes to lengths to prove this. He once visited Moscow (during the USSR) and said he saw an Australian who said to him, " Isn't it wonderful to see a true Socialist State... and true proof that Communism works?" And Pohl was disgusted at the fact that the man was older, and should have outgrown boyish dreams of utopia.

Never the less, later I went on to read some of his early works, and they do seem to hint of communism.

I suppose his comments have to be taken with a grain of salt... He was after all an American, and did live through McCarthyism, and blacklisting... many who have done such, are weary about claiming to be a communist... or even becoming a card carrying one!

When I first showed my father my little red and white card from the Socialist Party... he freaked out... not that he's anti-socialist... but afraid that I will never be able to get a job... that the feds are outside in black cars watching my apartment...

And if they are... so what?

The smurfs are a perfect communist state. The smurfs all work for the good of their community. They are true workers of themselves.
